How tight should the finger holes be ??
« on: February 26, 2007, 06:53:50 AM »
I'm totally new to the whole fingertip grip thing, and am trying to learn to hook the ball. So basically I am learning again from scratch.

I worked out the thumb hole size with alot of help from others on here,so I thought I'd ask about the finger holes.

With my thumb now buried, and my fingers in, I can let the ball hang straight down with a rexaled grip without it falling off. The finger holes (with inserts) seem a little on the loose side though.
What I mean is that it feels as though the finger tips only make contact in two small places.Right near the crease of my fingers (toward the tip), and against the tip of my nails.

Should the fingers fit toghter so that the whole pad of the finger contacts the grip ??

Would too loose fingers cause them to release early,as in the same time as the thumb ??

The pads of your fingers should be in contact with the front of the hole.  But I'm not sure smaller grips is the answer.  If your joints are stiff you need reverse finger pitch to get the pads in contact even when the spans are right.  Have a good fitter check you out.  --  JohnP

Thanks John.
It's hard for me to get to the shop when they are open, but I'll need to make the trip somehow.
It seems as when the full pad is contacting the grip, there is too much room on the back side. Just wondering if that would cause me to over grip the ball,or release my fingers too soon.
