Help me please! ANYONE??????
« on: March 03, 2011, 12:03:07 AM »
Hi, I am having a major problem. I just had new balls drilled and the feeling sucked. I kept dropping the ball from my fingers. I took the balls to my normal driller. He said it didn't match my balls from before. He plugged the fingers and redrilled them to match my older balls that I could use. I tried to use the new balls yesterday, and I am still dropping out of the fingers???Even my ball that I always use now, I am having the same problem. Please help. I have league tonight and don't know what I can do.Thank you!

Inserts too big? By fingers I assume you don't mean your thumb...

There is not a lot of information for us to go on really. It is hard for me to realize the fingers falling out. Do you have finger grips? If not maybe the holes are slick and need to have some white tape in the holes for grip, or finger tape. How are your bowling balls drilled? Could be the thumb coming out way to fast. Could be a lot of things, so give us more info.

If it is happening with your old equipment it is something your doing/mental block as well.

Has the thumb pitch been checked? Another potential reason is that everything is fine, but the thumb hole simply too big - maybe the ball driller used a larger drill bit than before. Making thumb holes bigger by tendency is a normal practice, to compensate for a swelling thumb, and using tape to compensate (for both snug hole size and span) is then a must.

Cleaning the thumb hole thoroughly is also a quick option, but my guess would be that you should try adding some tape at the front and back.

In the winter time, my thumb shrinks and it's a little hard for me to hold on to the ball.  I just pull out my rosin bag for more grip! In the summer time, my thumb swells and I have trouble getting my thumb out of the ball smoothly.  I just pull out my easy slide!  Buy a rosin bag for more grip, hopefully this can help!  Good Luck and Good Bowling!

Check your wrist position.  If it's cupped too much, or bent too far backwards, the pressure for hanging onto the ball then moves more to your thumb than fingers.  Also check your timing, if your hand is getting to the line too quick, you could be thumbing it.  Check your hand position on the ball, make sure your thumb is straight up and down in the thumbhole, if it's bent, your hand will slide forward in the direction of your fingers, causing you to bend at the knuckles, essentially bunching up your hand near the finger holes, which will prevent you from getting any lift.  Make sure you're not bending too much at the elbow trying to crank up on it to make up for losing it off your fingers, that will make it worse.  Focus on tightening your fingers, and following through, if you're short arming it, that could also be a problem.  There are tons of possibilities.

That's just like, your opinion, man.

Is the bowling ball smaller.  I had a ball that was made smaller than normal, we used a ball ring and it slipped right over it.  After a normal drilling it just wasn't right and that was the problem

Dropping out of the fingers? What does this mean? Your fingers should be last to exit the ball.
Go see a coach and pay him to help you..
