Importance of your positive axis point *video*
« on: October 10, 2017, 07:26:31 AM »
I don't suppose this is news or information to many of you here, but I find that despite providing layout information in every video right at the very beginning, I still get asked what my layout is and if I can "show" it, or why I don't "show" it.  You can't show a layout, you can show where the holes are drilled, but that shouldn't mean anything to anyone who doesn't know your positive axis point or where you track at.  I don't "show" mine specifically because regardless of whether I provide every bit of information I can, that's going to get ignored and people are going to fixate on where the holes are at, and I'm not into propagating misconceptions in the bowling world.  You know, the very bowling world that whines and complains that people are ignorant, or that they believe a lot of wrong things, or just don't understand, but who simultaneously will continue to push errant information because keeping people stupid is more lucrative.  Anyway, rant off, another uncharacteristically short and sweet video:

Agreed! Looking forward to your follow up video as I'm sure it'll help many people new to the dual angle concept.

I have been looking for videos to teach me this for years. And the link you gave to the guide helped immensely. I almost understand it now! Thank you

Double posting here, but I'm taking a guess on how to find the numbers of a layout on a ball already drilled. Find pap and mark it. Find center of grip and mark it. Draw line from center of grip through pap. Draw the val 90 degrees from that line. Then draw a line through pin and pap and through pin and cg/psa. Measure angle from pin/psa to pap for first number, pin to pap distance for second number, then angle from pin to pap and val for final number.

this should give you all the info needed to find the layout.

You don't draw a line from the center of grip to the the pap.

The midline which is drawn from the center of the grip and is the horizontal part of the PAP measurement is 90° to the centerline of the grip.

The Vertical Axis Line VAL is 90° to the midline
