After unlimited attempts to quality, the top 30 women and top 42 men bowl 2 eight game blocks to determine the top 4 for stepladder finals.  Scoring was low to moderate.

The Monster of Asia, Korea, flexed its muscle in this tournament. 

After 16 games:  In the women's division the tops 3 spots were held by Koreans.  High qualifier and eventual winner Jung Da Wun averaged 214.  203 was needed to make the stepladder.  Noteables:  Jazreel Tan 5th 201 and Tannya Roumimper 7th  198 of Wichita State, Kelly Kulick defending champion 13th 192.  In the men's division, High qualifer and eventual winner Hong Hae Sol averaged 228. Low to make stepladder was defending champion Shaker Al Hassen 218.  Final standing showed Korea taking places 1st, 2nd and 5th though 8th.
