Newer Player in a slump
« on: June 21, 2017, 11:51:26 PM »
Hello, As of late im in a real slump and its getting me quite down I am a newer player so bare with me. I started bowling last July at a more or less local alley for their 1 dollar games I played for a few weeks straight bowling of course and decided this is fun so I bought shoes and a ball ( DV8 Outkast 12lb) I was doing pretty decent then I started curving a bit and was only going up in my highest score. Around early October I got a Storm Snap Lock 16 lb and was bowling great with it was bowling 180s and 200s pretty consistently low games weren't common on new years I bowled for the ball drop and actually bowled a 233 game (still my highest currently) but sadly the group I bowled with stopped and so did I for a couple weeks. I started back and I just cant seem to bowl well at all highest games I bowl now are 150s and I didn't change anyway I bowl or change up my equipment. Im in a league now with my Mom and last couple weeks its been just awful. Its a Youth/Adult league and my handicap is 63 and avg is 135 as of last week (I bowl today). I'm unsure what to do I keep bowling terribly vs kids with really high handicaps and its demoralizing.

I would imagine a good place to start bring your scores/average up would be to go out an practice spare shooting.  If you aren't striking a lot filling frames will be key to keeping you scores/average up.  I've recently been getting back into bowling myself and I've been splitting my practice time between spare practice (mostly hitting 7 and 10 pins) and working on my strike ball.

What kind problems are you running into on the lanes?
