What would you do (Problem).................
« on: March 15, 2006, 12:32:44 AM »
If you bought a ball for 55 bucks. When I purchased a used ball, I made sure the pin was close to where I wanted it to be, so all I'd have to do is plug and redrill the thumb. Well when I received the ball there was a crack above the finger holes that ran from the pin through both finger holes. Now having seen this I called my Proshop guy and he said it would be an extra 25 bucks to fix the crack, plug the thumb and redrill it out. With all this extra costs the ball is now costing me close to 100 bucks. And we all know thats pretty steep for a used ball. $55 for the ball 20 buck to have the thumb plugged and redrilled and an extra cost of 25 bucks to have the crack fixed. Would you return the ball to the buyer and hope he refunds the money or just eat the cost and learn from this.

And yes I bought the ball from a BR member...............

Did you know it had that crack?  Did the seller disclose that when you bought it?  Did the pictures indicate there was a crack?  Did the pictures appear to be taken so as to hide the crack?

If you knew it was cracked (doesn't sound like it), it's your responsibility.  If there was deception on the part of the seller, I'd say it's their responsibility.  Unless you've got a real hankerin' for the ball, I'd be more inclined to get a refund if there was any deception involved.  If there was clearly no crack before shipping and there is now, it may be the shippers fault and you should contact them.

There was no mention of the crack at all. He said he thought he told me, but he did not. I'm not sure what I'll do right now. I sent the seller a couple of messages and am waiting for a reply.

Update

First he said if I was not happy then send the ball back. I replied back to him saying that I would keep the ball if he would send 15 bucks to help cover the rework expenses. I havnt had one reply since then. I will give his username and real name if I don't hear from him by tomorrow morning.
