Pick My Next Ball
« on: April 20, 2014, 02:07:19 PM »
Ok all I'm loving Motiv stuff right now. I have posted several times about the Tribal being my perfect match. My Cruel Intent 75/4.5/45 p3 is silky strong.

I just ordered the Venom Shock and am duplicating the layout from the Tribal 60/4.25/40 p3 utilizing the lower RG and cover to separate the 2.

I have prize money now going towards another ball. Revolt, Sting, Rage?

Pick the one and tell me why!!

Thx

I'd go Rage. Something similar in reaction to the Tribal but stronger overall

I'd go with the Rage.  The Shock/Sting are going to be relatively similar in overall motion/strength with the Sting being slightly stronger.  The Rage would give you more of a defined ball up while still being longer/stronger like the Tribal.
Current Ball Arsenal

MOTIV Jackal Legacy
MOTIV Mythic Jackal

Med-Heavy:
MOTIV Trident Odyssey
MOTIV Forge Fire
MOTIV Covert Revolt

Medium:

Medium-Light
MOTIV Venom Shock
MOTIV Tribal Fire

Without a doubt Revolt. It's way too good not to have. Also, you have nothing that will give you the reaction that will provide. The shock will be close-ish, but definitely longer/stronger shape and less overall hook than the Revolt.

All in all, how you feel about the tribal, I feel that way about the revolt. So if that's one of the choices, it'll be my vote about 99% of the time.

Can't go wrong with any of the three though, they all roll great.

I'm leaning Revolt.

Hoping it will be money for me on Sport. I have Marvel S 60/3.75/50 and Yeti Unleashed 40/3.25/30 p3.5 as aggressive syms.

How strong is Revolt on oil? Need to figure out where it'll fit with the 2 above as I know it will be at the top of my Motiv arsenal regardless of layout.

Considering you have a Marvel S, I am not 100% sold on getting the Revolt.  I think the Marvel S might have a little bit more length, but nothing a surface change can't fix.  The two should be very similar.

As others have stated, I would lean more towards the Primal Rage.  You don't have that heavier skid/snap ball and the Rage would definitely fill that spot.

Well for some reason my driller couldn't get a Shock for me today with the specs I wanted so I went Revolt and Sting.

I duplicated the layout on my Hyroad Pearl for the Revolt and duplicated my Tribal for the Sting except I went DT on Sting where Tribal is p3.

I wanted the Revolt to be a Hyroad Pearl on roids and the Sting a stronger Tribal reaction.

Thankfully, I nailed them both. The Sting is sneaky strong with the DT hole. It covers boards in the mids but really let's loose on the back of the lane.

BUT the Revolt is something altogether different. It's downright special. I got easy revs off my hand with a sweeping hook over the whole lane. Up the boards with firm hand and speed it held and crushed the rack. Moving way in and slowing down to 18 off hand I could crank on it and bring it back from the 5 board no joke. It never over hooked but it was so stinkin strong. I had the entire lane to play with tonight.

So glad I bought it. I won't be able to put this one down!!

I decided I wanted to switch back to #16 and I just drilled my first Motiv ball since the early Motiv days. I drilled a Sting as the only other ball I had was an uproar that was a little too lengthy at times so I wanted something similar shape but earlier and stronger. I'm loving what I've seen from the First few games. Out of the box I was super worried as it went dead straight but after getting about 10 shots on it and the polish getting wore off a little it seemed to be exactly what I expected. Definitely won't be my last Motiv. It's a little late in the season now but a revolt might be getting drilled soon. Should give me a nice 3 ball set up as I plan to keep it more simple with less options for next season.....
