this week in league play the team we were bowling against all showed up with plastic balls.....by the end of the first game there was no oil on the front end as the plastic balls pushed the oil to the back end....my team tried evetything from urethane to aggressive balls but nothing seemed to work.....anyone have a sussestion which ball might work for this condition

Play deep inside or play the twig. Have to go around them

Plastic will delete head oil a lot, lot slower than regular resin, but it will absorb oil a lot slower than resin. So more oil tends to be deposited further down lane. I doubt if they removed much head oil compared to regular resin users but you more than likely got a lot less backend than normal after the the first game.

Solutions vary from going around the carrydown to playing deeper with stronger rolling balls.

with true carrydown like that i usually go straighter which usually means urethane outside on a house shot

It really depends on how the guys with plastic were playing it.  You can play the shot, but you have to be able to square up.  Don't go with something real dull drying to fight the loss of back ends.  I like a strong core pearl on a shot like this.  You have to understand that while they are taking away you swing area they are also building up your hold area if you can square up with the right equipment.

Just adding to Avabob comments.

In my mix league some of my highest games were usually against teams that had several people throwing plastic. The BIG BONUS was I would get additional area.  If I tug the ball a little and didn't get it out far enough right , it would just stay in the oil and find the pocket.

Stay away from polish equipment, I usually just used my benchmark ball. 4000 Grit
