RADICAL SLANT ???
« on: May 02, 2011, 10:14:39 AM »
I was looking through the May issue of Bowlers Journal International today and noticed a new bowling ball company( Radical ) and their first ball( the Slant ). I was just slightly interested in this until I noticed the name of Radical Bowling President and ball designer Phil Cardinale-------the same Phil Cardinale who used to run Track years ago and more recently, 900 Global.  Does anyone know what were the circumstances that led to all this ?

Yes, it's the same Phil C. who ran Track, and Dyno-Thane.
He was chief executive officer CEO ( I think) at 900Global. I guess he wanted his own company again to run completely as he saw fit. Maybe he wasn't entirely happy at 900G. Maybe he did all he thought he could do there.

FYI LBHS1979, there's a long thread in the OTHER manufacturer's forum about the Radical.Phil made several replies within it. Maybe you'll find his reasons for doing what he did on there??
See this thread:
Radical Slant thread

There are several Radical threads within the OTHER forum also; some are mini-reviews of the ball.

Effort I think is the perfect word for it.  As much as I loved the old Track equipment and the 900 Global / AMF equipment, I do not think the Slant is anything close to what they state it's designed for.  My AMF Double Clutch starts up earlier but is very clean thru the heads and turns the corner pretty hard without making any cover adjustments.  My Slant, I've gone thru so many different cover adjustments, I still can't figure it out.  The ball just skates.  I've thrown it on a THS it goes long, I've even thrown it on longer patterns maybe thinking the drilling I had on it was too strong but that also goes long.  I do understand the ball is a pearl.  I'm still in the process of trying to find the right cover adjustment for it.  I'm thinking of taking mine down to like 1k abralon with no polish.  Maybe the ball may actually react.  I would be more than willing to give the ball another chance(I won't plug it though, hard to swallow to do so with a new ball) but I decline to pay the regular cost for another one too.  Maybe if I got it for 1/2 of what I paid then I would but in all reality, I'd like them to replace it if I shipped the ball I have back to them. Money just doesn't grow on trees anymore.  Phil, if you read this, I just want to make myself clear.  I love your products.  I will always try a new product from any company you are with that you design.  However, this is the first time I have encountered a product that I am truly not happy with.

Mine picks up earlier than I had hoped, I drilled it just like my break pearl and it is a totally different ball. Very rolly compared to the BP. 70x4x45 if I remember right.

Haven't drilled mine yet.  Been playing with the Bank Pearl and the OMG.  Love how both of these roll!  May drill the Slant here shortly or the Euphoria, haven't decided...
