Should I buy?
« on: January 17, 2017, 05:19:43 AM »
I just started bowling regularly about 6 months ago. I'm 21, have never bowled in league, and I'm averaging a 186 over my last 30 games. I'm interested in entering a league, but I'm not sure if I should do a scratch or open league, and if I should invest in my own ball and shoes or not? I am a wrong a 186 with whatever ball I find at the alley a go to, and I'm not sure how much a custom ball would actually improve my scores. Any suggestions would be dope thanks

Get your own ball and shoes period
Most used:
Motiv Venom Shock (14)
DV8 Grudge Hybrid (14)
Hammer Scandal (14)
DV8 Freakshow (14)

Sometimes.
C300 Swerve (14)
Motiv Jackal LE (14)

Retired:
Roto Grip Sinister (13)
Motiv Jackal (14)

Given to a no-thumber in the club:
Brunswick T-zone (13)

Might stick with Motiv from now on.

If nothing else, having your own ball means having a custom fit and a ball laid out according to your PAP. As for shoes, I think WAY too many bowlers focus just on balls instead of realizing just how crucial proper footwear is. So, as the others have said, I'd definitely get your own ball and shoes. That doesn't mean you have to spend $225 on the newest high end ball and $165 on SST's or The 9s.
