USBC Sanction cards
« on: December 12, 2011, 12:02:22 AM »
Is the USBC still sending sanction cards out or do you have to go to their website and print them out? Their website says my card was being processed on 11/21 but I still haven't received anything.

Get mine online and during summer, it didn't take long last year. This year though, it took about 6-7 weeks.

They got mine Oct 31st. Still haven't seen one.
Yes, you can always print one from the website and laminate it. Of course, as soon as you do that, it will arrive the next day .....

I was at a tournament the weekend after Thanksgiving, and the main complaint in the tournament office was the large number of people without USBC cards. With a  few exceptions,  on Bowl.com it showed the sanction, and cards were supposedly mailed out in October. I got mine in mid- October, but 4 other people in my group (sanctioned through same league at same time) did not get theirs.

For the past couple of years I have done my sanction online on Aug 1st. I have my sanction card printed before league starts. In my association, they take too long to send it in and usually I bowl at least 1 or 2 tournaments before card got to me. It was a hassle trying to explain why i don't have my card. So, I sanction online and I have it before tournaments start.

How long until we don't even need sanction cards?  Seems pointless to spend the money for an online database of all the bowlers in USBC (that is accessible by everyone) and send out sanction cards.  The availability of the internet and the ability of individual bowlers to print their own cards makes the USBC issued sanction card unnecessary.

A bag tag with all the information is a good idea, but perhaps issue cards only to those who request it and not eveyone.  Might save some coin.
