Finally tried a Motiv Ball
« on: October 17, 2017, 05:24:01 PM »
Finally tried my 1st Motiv Ball.  Venom Shock to replace my IQ Tour   Real happy with it so far.  Seems a little stronger then my Tour was but that is ok with me. Going to use it as much as possible. Should be a ball to start with at most of the houses I bowl at. Also put some polish on my Show Off at 1000 grit and made a huge difference. Much more usable in my opinion.  Ball is actually a step down now from my Venom Shock. Trying balls from different companies until something clicks. Also liking my Ebonite Affinity when the lanes dry out a bit. So much good stuff out there right now.

The Shock is a lot of ball for the price when it comes to low rg low diff balls. It is an IQ Tour that carries better.

That is music to my ears. If it rolls like my IQ Tour did and carries better I will be thrilled. So far so good.

I really need to get another Shock (or two). I've bought a ton of balls since switching to 14 - just none from Motiv (and I had a lot in 15). For some reason, I keep putting it off. Same with the Storm Hy-road. Owned a 15 Pearl, and now own a 14.

As for the Show Off, the box finish was way too strong on our house shot - at least how it has been playing. 4000 was better. Last night I tried 2000 + Reacta Shine polish. Definitely an improvement, but the ball is still forcing me a bit left of where I normally would prefer to start play. A ton of ball for the price point.

I like how their coverstocks are so well blended. I don't know what is different in the  pour process that Storm/RG covers are blotchy and Motiv blends their colors so well. My Primal Fear I had was so well blended between the colors. Then I could get a Storm/RG ball where it's literally half poured one color and half poured the other color.
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend

They don't seem to blend colors any better than the other companies. Perhaps you have had good luck with the balls you received.

I've had several different Motiv balls that had one entire side a single color, with the other side blended a little.

My Fear is very nice with the coloring as well. One of my United Revolts is probably 2/3 green with not a lot of silver mixed in. My Forza GT is Sky blue on one entire half.

It's just hit and miss I guess. The balls still roll the same anyway.

Ah ok. I must not haven't gotten my eyes on enough Motivs to notice.

Yeah Venom Shock on my want list as well but already have an IQ Tour and my Hy-Road is my go to ball so it will be a replacement ball perhaps someday.  Need to get more consistent before I worry about any more balls.
Kind of noob when made this account so take advice with grain of salt.
