Description: The Jackal is an all new look on the outside with the new name and Turmoil HFP Reactive cover. The inside however, utilizes the same successful asymmetrical core that was found in the discontinued Raptor line.

Reaction: The Jackal just flat out hooks but, it doesn’t hook so soon though to where there is very little shape down lane, in fact it provides more continuation than I have ever seen in an asymmetrical. I do most initial testing on typical house patterns, and the pattern forced me 4 to 5 boards deeper at the arrows than anything else in my bag. Although it forced me in sooner it really allowed me to play left to right and made the pocket bigger than it already was with amazing carry and push through the pins. I feel that the Jackal allows me to start in further and play patterns where some of the higher rev guys play, once again really helping to enlarge the pocket and increase carry percentage. After the ball had lost some of it’s out of box finish and had some natural shine to it, the ball really started to pick up downlane. I could really get it around the corner, which for me with an asymmetrical just doesn’t happen. I then decided to adjust the cover to 2000 Abralon. This ball became insanely strong and not something I would be throwing on a THS, but a necessity on some tighter and flatter patterns.

Comparisons: Well this should be short and sweet…everything else in my bag doesn’t have near the hook potential of the Jackal. To give some idea of the shape down lane though it has much more backend potential and continuation than the Raptor Talon, even though they shared the same core. The Jackal really provides a shape that is in sandwiched between a Covert Revolt and Primal Rage, but with obviously more hook potential.

Summary: Overall, this release allows me to play deeper lines and create more entry angle than I would with other high performance/heavy oil balls. This is a ball that can really complete your lineup because it is almost certain to be stronger than anything you currently have in your bag. Since the box surface is a matte finish, the Jackal also has the option to be even longer and stronger by polishing or sanding it with a lower grit for even more overall hook! #Alphadog

The Jackal. Not much to say about this ball other than the fact it HOOKS! Featuring a new cover, Turmoil High Friction Pearl Reactive, and paired with the proven Predator core, the Jackal is not afraid of oil.

My Jackal is drilled 80x5 1/2x 50 which put the pin just above my middle finger and MB next to my thumb. The 3000 box finish is plenty surface on this ball. Compared to my Revolt, the Jackal is just as clean through the front part of the lane but it is easily an arrow stronger in the mid-lane with amazing continuation through the pins.

The Jackal allows me to play a little deeper on Shark pattern and my carry improved from being able to create a little more angle on the longer pattern.

If you are looking for a ball to open the lane up in league or in tournament play, the Jackal will be first out of your bag. The Jackal is described as a "power pearl" and it is just that.

Review:

The Jackal is the new high performance pearl from Motiv Bowling. What makes the Jackal stand about the rest is its aggressive move through the oil and still retains it energy through the backend where pins don’t stand a chance. The Jackal brings back the Predator core and Turmoil HFP Reactive coverstock which is the pearl version we saw on the Covert Revolt, the Jackal is strong through the mid-lane and just retains its energy so well that the Jackal will be another outstanding piece in anyone’s bag.

Inner Core                 Predator
Coverstock                Turmoil HFP Reactive
Finish                       3000 Grit LSS

Comments:

Since I have been on staff with Motiv, there has been on a few products that just made my jaw drop, like it should be illegal that this ball is that good and now you can add the Jackal to that list. What can I say about the Jackal other than that I finally have an asymmetrical bowing ball I can throw on all conditions and strike at will. The piece is in a league of its own. As a high rev player I usually stay away from high performance equipment because they burn up to quick and don’t have the force to strike often when bowling on house shots. I would save them for heavier volumes of oil conditions and be just as fine; however, the Jackal is in a league of its own. The Jackal is such a smooth rolling ball for me and it retains its energy so well that now I feel I can strike at will with this piece on any condition. This is by far the best asymmetrical bowling ball I have ever thrown, better than the original red mission by ebonite that I have my highest set ever. The Jackal is a bowling ball that all players need to have in their bag. Lower rev players would love this piece on the house shot and higher rev players will love this piece because it just destroys oil and all it wants to do is strike at will.

Likes: smooth roll; phenomenal continuation; stores energy better than most high performance.

Dislikes: None.

I recommend the Jackal for all bowlers types ad styles.

Rev Rate:420
Axis Tilt:20
Axis Rotation: 45
Ball Speed:17
PAP Measurements: 4 1/8

Layout:   http://i552.photobucket.com/albums/jj344/TheSuperHitMan/jackal.jpg

Description:  The Jackal is a strong mid lane reaction power pearl that aggressively cuts through the oil and retains energy to continue through the pins with deadly force.  The fur of this deadly animal is the Turmoil HFP Reactive coverstock and the beating heart is the Predator core, the very same used in the Talon.

Out of box surface: 3000 Grit LSS

Ball Reaction:  The Jackal has a lot of hook and roll to match it; its not so early that you don't see enough ball motion down lane. The roll and continuation of the jackal on house patterns is frightening and although it did push me further left than where I would normally stand, there was no loss of carry or recovery. I will say this about the Jackal though, I did take the cover down to 2000 and it became juggernaut strong and was ideal for when I used it on the U.S. open pattern.  I was really able to open up the lanes with it.

Conditions

THS (40 feet):  Using the Jackal on THS I could play as far left as I wanted too keeping it in the oil and there was no quit in this ball, throughout the entire night I had the entire lane. No matter how deep I played the Jackal was still smooth and continuous with showed no signs of over reacting. Zero issues with pin carry.

U.S. Open Pattern (42 feet):  I stood 15 from the left targeting 10 to the right and was not disappointed in the results; the Jackal dug into the pattern and made its move to the pocket without hesitation.  I also got a chance to throw this ball on different longer/heavier patterns and I’ll tell you now that you will be able to create better entry angles on those patterns.

Summary:  Currently nothing in my bag providers me with more hook in oil than the Jackal, to paint a reaction picture of its shape down lane it has a quicker response than that of the Talon despite the fact that they both possess the same heart.  The roll of the Jackal reminds me of the TR2 as it rolls so heavy but with a faster response, this ball will give you more hook than your Revolt and Rage.

In closing the Jackal is a ball that will complete your lineup,if you’re looking for a power pearl look no further than the Jackal. The Jackal is a ball that keeps on giving, it's just that good of a ball.  There is no domesticating this wild animal.

This is absolutely one of the best asymmetrical balls I have ever used. While most asymmetrical balls tend to lose energy as you move left this one definitely does not and maintains a good shape and goes through the pins very well. And don't be fooled by the surface out of the box, this ball clears the front very well and does not burn up in the midlane. I would recommend this ball to just about anyone regardless of speed or rev rate.  What I like about motiv balls is the covers are very versatile and can be adjusted to fit any style and this ball is no exception. Motiv is making some very good balls right now and they are a good company that people should start supporting if they are not already.

Likes: What really impresses me about the Jackal is how much it hooks overall without reading the lane too early or losing its drive down lane.

Dislikes: Obviously because it's a ball designed for heavier oil it is a little more of a conditional or arsenal piece if you will.

I have thrown my Jackal on several of the house shots at different centers in my area. It gets through the front relatively easy for a ball that is designed for heavy oil.  I personally have to be in the puddle in the middle of the lane to use it but it's effective. I tried playing straight up against the oil line with it and the dry is just too darn dry. I need to make sure I am in the heavier concentration of oil on the lane. It has been said that you can keep moving left with this ball and not lose the continuation factor. I can personally attest to that. I have a 2" pin Jackal for now (will be adding more to my arsenal) and I was playing between 3rd and 4th arrow! It never ran out of gas or puked unless I threw it poorly. I have also tested it on Kegel Middle Road on AMF HPL synthetics and I was playing straight up the track to start. When the first transition occurred I could just parallel it in or increase the ball speed. It never made me jump zones or do something drastic. I think many different bowlers will be able to use this piece. It's not just for the league bowler who throws it very hard with little rev rate. I have a guy who bowls in the same league as me at Wantagh Lanes and he routinely starts around 4th arrow. He has a very high rev rate and a lot of ball speed. He has a Jackal and hasn't shot below 729 with it in that building since he purchased the ball. It's really nice to have such a quality asymmetrical piece in my arsenal. I have to admit, I wasn't a fan of the Cruel Intent and the Raptor Talon was ok. It certainly had a place in my bag, but this Jackal puts it to shame. Look at some staffer videos for the Jackal and when they do the comparisons note how much more the Jackal continues through the pin deck. The Jackal splits the 8-9 whereas the Intent and Talon tend to exit the deck more between the 9 and 10 pins or behind the 10 pin altogether. If you're searching for a user friendly, adaptable, versatile high end asymmetrical ball, then the Jackal should be given some serious consideration.

Review:
The New Motiv Jackal is a hook monster.  I am about 3-5 more boards left of anything I have thrown by Motiv before. The ball uses the same Predator Core as the Talon but has a super strong reactive pearl cover that is fantastic. The main difference I see is that the Jackal is much cleaner through the front than the Talon, retaining energy for large track flare, a big backend move and hit. It is always nice to see a big hooking ball that does not read too early and saves power for great pin carry and drive. The Jackal loves oil with the box finish and pin up or pin down drillings. My pin up layout drillings made sharper angles down lane than the pin down layouts. This is a great addition to the Motiv line. Motiv has come out with some awesome equipment but this is a large leap in hook compared to the last few releases.
One of the best features of this ball is that it takes surface adjustments so easily and is amazing polished.
The Jackal still hooks a ton when polished but enhances the backend and demolishes the pins. The Jackal is very forgiving when you miss right or turn the ball too early.  This ball is on the top of the hook chart for Motiv and will not disappoint. The Jackal has a great logo and color dull or polished. Everybody that comes in the shop comments on how good it looks. The Jackal has got off to a fast start at our shops and I believe could be the best selling Motiv I have had so far. If you bowl in a flood, have a lower rev rate or fast speed you will love this ball.

Summary:
A ton of hook with strong backend motion.
Excellent hit and carry. Very forgiving ball.
A great ball for heavy oil.
Works great dull or polished.
This is a great piece to have if you bowl on wet lanes or tournaments with longer patterns.

Needing a strong ball motion in heavy oil without sacrificing hitting power and continuation?  Look no further than the Motiv Jackal.  The combination of the new Turmoil HFP Reactive coverstock’s cleanliness with one of the most powerful cores on the market (Predator: 2.46 RG, .060 Diff) creates a unique ball motion for the soupiest of conditions.  Even with this ‘weaker’ layout it still gives me the motion I need to succeed in the earlier games.  Being a pearl I have had no issues with the Jackal clearing the heads without super-early burn, a huge plus for the amount of overall aggression this ball delivers.  The core takes over in the mids producing a strong read allowing me to see any transitions the lane may be going through (not to mention the mass amounts of track flare, too).  The backend is strong but very controllable and extremely continuous through the pins; I’ve had breakpoints anywhere from ‘up’ seven to fading fourteen with the same hitting power.  Ultimately the Jackal gives me what I need to start the day when I need traction with the ability to go a little deeper than other typical balls in this category; a perfect alpha dog to the Motiv line.

The Motiv Jackal is one ball I am really excited about. Showcasing the new Turmoil HFP Pearl Coverstock and the Predator Core, this ball shows that it can clear the fronts and still read in the mid lane strong. I usually have a feeling that I have to use friction to the right to create good ball motion, but with this ball I now have an option to move left a little faster without a worry that it will not recover.

For me this ball hooks earlier than any other ball in my arsenal. When I need to make a ball change I generally switch to the covert revolt or the cruel intent because they are a little cleaner through the front part of the lane than the Jackal.

Summary:
The Jackal is a ball that hooks a lot and gives me a new shape by allowing me to move left a little faster so I can play in the puddle.

When the Jackal was announced and I took a look at the specs, all I could think was ‘About Time!’ In all the time that MOTIV has been my arsenal of choice, I have been patiently waiting for that piece with the power to push through the heaviest of patterns. Don’t get me wrong, the Raptor Talon was definitely a strong ball in its own right, and that is why it’s heart now beats at the center of the new MOTIV Jackal! That’s right folks, the famous Predator core has once again returned, now wrapped inside the new Turmoil HFP Pearl Coverstock. Make no mistake, this is not your average heavy oil asymmetric ball. Although this ball is very aggressive in oil, it does not run the risk of burning out down lane before reaching the pins. MOTIV has managed to provide a pearl that is both aggressive, yet retains energy and provides continuation through the pins from a wide range of angles.
Hands down, this ball has filled a huge gap in my bag. Although the Covert Revolt and the Primal Rage have both proven to be fairly reliable pieces for more heavier volumes, there have just been too many occasions where they just did not provide versatility and continuation simultaneously. The Jackal, the moment I began throwing it, proved to be a ball that will allow me to open up the lane with the amount of movement that is seen down lane. If you keep up with my reviews, you would have learned that all my league play is on a broken down, 2nd shift shot twice a week, I rarely need to have a highly aggressive ball in my hand. Recently I actually had to compete on a fresh pattern, which I have been rather rusty with. With the Jackal in hand, I was able to set the tone of the tournament starting off with 298 followed by 279 while moving pairs. This ball was just a flat out monster on the lanes. My layout of choice placed the pin right about the Bridge and the CG kicked out to the left. Although this pushed the ball further down lane, the surface on this ball and its energy in the back end, I was able to avoid over-under ball reaction and poor carry. Returning to my statement of allowing me to open up the lane, with its continuation, the Jackal allows me to change angles at the drop of a hat without the worry it rolling out and having no power behind it when it makes the turn. So, What are you waiting for, don’t just join the pack, its time you stand your ground and take your rightful place as the #alphadog!

Description: The Jackal is uses the pearl version of Turmoil cover. The core though, utilizes the same successful asymmetrical core that was found in the discontinued Raptor line.

Reaction: The Jackal just straight out hooks but, it doesn’t hook to soon though to where there isn't any down lane motion, in fact it provides more continuation than I have ever seen in an asymmetrical. Typical when I see an asymmetrical ball with numbers like this, I tend to shy away, due to my high rev rate. So to see the continuation the Jackal had was awesome.   I do most initial testing on a THS.  The pattern forced me 5 to 6 boards deeper at the arrows than anything else in my bag. My first Jackal is drilled 80 x 4 3/4 x 35 and the surface is at 1000 polished.  This one allows me to throw it on most THS and not burn up. I can start further right and roll it more up the back and not worry about loosing any hitting power at the pins.  Then as they open up I can just move with the pattern and really get around it and still not lose any hitting power at the pins.  My second Jackal is drilled 65 x 5 5/16 x 60.  This one is I tend to use on the heavier patterns I've seen so far.  It allows me to do what I want with my hand and not read to soon, but read the pattern in the right spots.

Comparisons: Well this is an easy comparison, there isn't a comparison.  The Jackal provides a shape that is in between a Covert Revolt and Primal Rage, but with obviously more hook potential.

Summary: The Jackal allows me to use an asymmetrical ball when I never could on a wider range of patterns. This is a ball that can really complete your lineup because it is almost certain to be stronger than anything you currently have in your bag. Since the box surface is at 3000, the Jackal also has the option to be even longer and stronger(like my first jackal is) by polishing or sanding it with a lower grit for even more overall hook! #Alphadog

JAKAL
Want something strong on those heavy oil patterns..Looking for something that reads incredibly well mid lane. Looking for that added advantage on PBA and sport shots The all new Motiv JAKAL gives you that advantage. I have been in search of something this strong for quite some time in the Motiv Line.  The Jakal gives me that unfair advantage!  Its mid lane read provides the reaction I need on heavy oil patterns to minimize the ball skid and still provide the strong down lame move on minimal friction.  The continuation of this ball is AMAZING! This ball provides a strong back end motion and is very predictable even on lighter volume oil patterns. Its all about predictable motion, strong mid to early read on oily lanes and continuation through the pins..If these are the characteristics you are looking for then the JAKAL is for you!!

Ball Specs and Layout:
Turmoil HFP Reactive Coverstock
Predator Core
3000 Grit LSS Finish
14 lb 3 oz
30 X 5 X 45 (no balance hole)

Bowler Stats:
Rev Rate – 425
Ball Speed – 17 mph (down-lane)
PAP – 3 ½ over, ¾ up
Right-handed

Test Environment:
PBA Chameleon Pattern – 43’

Review:
I initially threw the ball on a fresh THS a few times to ensure grip/tape was comfortable, and immediate reaction was THIS BALL HOOKS. Lining up off the left gutter on fresh was insane but have to admit it rolled great. Once on the longer and tougher, Chameleon pattern, the Jackal made the pattern look a little too easy, almost made it look like a THS. The Jackal reads really well through the oil and is controllable on the backend. After blending out the pattern some, I was able to play from a few different angles and did not sacrifice carry. I compared it to the Revolt and Primal Rage. I was able to play an average 4-6 more boards left (with my feet) using the Jackal.

Likes:
Strong Continuous Motion
Great Ball for Long Pattern (42+’)
Versatile Cover

Dislikes:
None

Summary:
This ball hooks. Just because the Jackal hooks a lot doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be in any everyone’s arsenal. The Jackal will easily the strong suit in every bowler’s arsenal. A variety of bowlers would enjoy this piece on plenty of occasions, i.e. on long patterns, when backends get tighter, and when the fronts and middle are flooded. The continuous down-lane motion makes the Jackal that much easier to control. Adding a coat or two of polish, without sacrificing carry, would not hurt if the initial reaction is too much.

MOTIV Jackal Review
« Reply #14 on: December 10, 2014, 09:17:33 PM »
The Jackalâ„¢ is a power pearl with the unique ability to make an aggressive move in the oil, yet retain energy to continue through the pins with deadly force.

Because the Jackalâ„¢ is strong in the mid-lane and retains energy so well for proper continuation, it is a great piece for a wide variety of bowlers.  Obviously, low to moderate rev league bowlers will crush a house-shot with it and tournament bowlers will appreciate the Jackalâ„¢ because it is strong in heavy oil, but doesn’t quit.

Review:
I put my one of my favorite layouts (60 X 5 X 40) on my Motiv Jackal and I already knew coming in how strong the Jackal was said to be. My first impression was no different than my expectations. THIS BALL HOOKS!! My first time throwing my Jackal was on broken down Stone Street (Kegel THS) right after league one night and I did not expect to be able to throw it effecively. However, I was VERY impressed on how much the ball did hook while maintaining energy through the pins. Normally with Heavy Oil balls, they force you left because the hook at your feet, and then you struggle to get it to turn the corner down lane because the ball is "burning up" or . NOT with the Jackal!! I was able to play left of 5th error very effectively without sacrifricing any carry at all. The ball is simply a hook monster across the entire lane from start to finish.  I have also thrown it on a fresh THS and I was even more impressed! I was able to play about 10 boards further right and the ball ate throw any oil that was on the lane. The carry was just even better when I was able to play further right on fresh! I cannot wait to throw this ball on some tougher, longer, and higher volume patterns such as the PBA Badger and Shark! I would highly recommend this ball for anyone on heavy oil and I suspect guys with a normal to lower rev rate will absolutely love this ball on a THS!! Do not waste anymore time and drill yours today!!! Get MOTIVateddddd!!!
