Motiv Jackal Rising video and written review
« on: January 06, 2018, 02:59:23 AM »

Hello guys! This time I had the opportunity to try the newest Motiv release, the Jackal Rising.

I had the chance to try this ball on our fresh house shot pattern and the Jackal Rising is definitely one of the strongest balls I have ever thrown. I had to play deeper than usual to keep the ball in the pocket. I had to play close to the third arrow and a breakpoint out of 8.

The Jackal Rising offers a strong midlane read and a smooth and predictable motion down the lane. It is very, very strong. Most of my misses outside ended up hitting the pocket almost every time, with a great carry percentage. Later in the session I started leaving some flat corner pins, so I had to move even deeper to keep carrying. Misses inside weren’t as forgiving, the coverstock and core combination is so strong that most of the times the ball was going sideways as soon as the Rising hit the friction. I liked the fact of how this ball was able to blend the pattern, the ball was never unpredictable or hard to read, and it made it hard for me to miss the pocket, even on my bad shots.

I compared the Jackal Rising with the Jackal Ghost and the Forza SS.

The Jackal Ghost has less hook potential than the Jackal Rising. The Ghost is a tad cleaner and it has a faster response to friction than the Rising. Overall, it is weaker than the Rising.

The Forza SS has a similar motion than the Rising, but it is weaker overall. The Forza SS covers less boards and it is smoother down the lane. It is a perfect step down from the Rising once it starts hooking too much or producing too much friction.

Being a low rev bowler, balls like the Jackal Rising makes me feel like one of the big guys playing parts of the lane that I could never play with weaker equipment. The Rising will be a great option for low rev and speed dominant bowlers on a different variety of conditions. The Jackal Rising will be a great option to use on fresh oil and on house patterns with heavier volumes of oil.

The Rising is definitely more versatile than I thought. I have used this ball in two different bowling centers with different volumes of oil and the ball delivered. Since I am a left handed I was able to use the Jackal Rising all night, but I had to move in after every game to keep the ball in play.
I hate clichés and those things bowling companies use to describe their products. Phrases like “Hits like a truck”, “unbelievable continuation” or “this ball is a must have”, etc, etc. But with the Jackal Rising I have to use one of those clichés to describe the ball and it is CONTINUATION.

As you can see on the video, the ball never quits. I can miss my target left and the ball never seems to lose energy, I am honestly impressed on how this ball stores so much energy for the breakpoint. Considering how strong the cover and the core are, plus the out of the box finish (2000 LSS) it is really impressive to see how this ball finishes though the pins.

Overall, I feel that the Jackal Rising is a great addition to the Motiv lineup. It is definitely the strongest Jackal ever produced and a great option for a lot of bowling styles. This ball will be a great option to use on a different variety of conditions. It will be the ball to go when you are facing heavy volumes of oil, a great weapon to use on a fresh house shots where you need to blend the pattern and it will also be a great option on flat patterns where you need to control the breakpoint.

If you liked the Jackal Ghost, then the Jackal Rising is a must for you. The Rising fits exactly where Motiv placed it on the Ball Guide. It is the strongest ball Motiv has ever made and it will fit into a lot of bowling styles.

Thank you for watching!

In the market for a heavy oil ball and up until the Rising, it was going to be the Sure Lock. Any comparison between the two would be appreciated.
