Mid-West Tournaments

I have recently moved to IL and was wondering if there are any tournaments in the St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis areas similar to NEBA's in the New England area.  If not anyone know of any good tournaments in the area throughout the year?

There's a great set of tournaments run called the ABT (Amateur Bowler's Tour) but that's more up in the Chicagoland area (though there is a North and South branch).

I'm assuming these are handicap tournaments?

I should have added, I am looking for scratch events.

This is a bit farther north but Mississippi Valley Bowling Tour www.mvbt.cjb.net

Think of it being off of Interstate 80 in the Quad Cities area. The next event will be the first Sunday in November at Miller Time Bowl in Davenport, Iowa. A central Illinois guy named Doug Manhart won this event last year.

The boot hills are where you will find the best scratch bowlers around.  Call the houses around chicagoland, there are always tournaments being run.

Masters Division for bowlers with averages of 200-225. The Masters handicap is 80% of 225.  Bowlers that don't cash over time are given bonus pins.  

Tournament Average

Each bowler is required to use their highest current average, highest summer average, or highest average from the past three years for entering average purposes. One of these averages must be for forty-five games or more. An average record sheet is kept on each member that includes all games bowled in the tournaments. After twenty-one games in the tournament club bowlers will assume their tournament average or an adjusted average assigned by the Tournament Director. This average will not be allowed to drop more than five pins during the first twenty-one games or in any fifty game block thereafter. After establishing a tournament average for twenty-one or more games, should a bowler fail to cash in the next three tournaments they would become eligible for the bonus pin system. The bonus pin system is a floating handicap from 80 to 100% handicap. Bowlers who bowl well and cash will have their averages adjusted up and lose handicap, while bowlers who fail to cash will gain bonus pins to make them more competitive.

In the northwestern region of Indiana (South Bend area) there is a set of tournament run by the Michiana Bowling association..  Pretty fun little tournaments...   www.mba300.com

Twoheaded, too bad you are just hearing about MVBT. The last event was help in Cedar Rapids.

I bowl in South Bend at Chippewa for my league, but I sub all over the place.  One place I have yet to sub at is in Elkhart, so if you ever need a sub, you know where to find one...

Bruns bowler-- Where at in IL.  

I have lived in Cent. IL all my life.  
I have a schedule that I personally prepared for a bunch of stuff upcoming.

The Chicagoland ABT is a pretty good tournament club which I am a part of. I was in the Masters Division but after this weekend, I will probably end up back in the Classic Division again. Fairly competitive for all average bowlers.
