I just recently had this ball give to me and it is a great ball! It really had a good smooth reaction. I drilled it 4 1/2x4 1/2, put the pin about a 1/2 an inch above and to the right of my ring finger with the cg just below. Sanded it to 800! it really reacts great on a house shot with oil. I am a power stroker and this ball gave me a great look. I just recently bowled at a bowling alley where I had to play between about 22-16 at the arrows and go out to like 7-8 at my bread point and this ball allowed me to do that with a little slower speed! It has a great deal of flare to it, haven't tested it on a sport shot yet. But can't wait! So far this ball really doesn't quit like some particles do on the backend....

Good Luck and Good Bowling,
Michael

Now this is a ball!  Drilled mine 4x3.  It has a 3-4in pin with medium top weight.  Stayed with box finish.  Played on oily wood shot with medium carrydown.  Ball was very responsive playing several angles. Great smooth flip with strong hit and carry.  If lanes are really soaked just give it a light scuff, a little more hand, or just slow it down a bit and it will respond beautifully.  A lot to love about this one.  It has aready paid for itself four times over in sidepots.  Good job Nu-line!

We drilled only one of the Deadly Virus, after hearing positive things about the Virus.  We were initially worried about this ball being too much muscle for our house and took the ball to the spinner for a polish job.  We were less than successful here, only achieving a light shine despite investing quite some time in the effort.  We therefore would give the shell versatility a less than average grade.  That could be a good thing, if you are bowling on oil and normally prefer dull balls.

We drilled the ball with the pin next to the ring finger, which put it 5" from the axis.  We were using a pin-out ball the c.g was stacked, which required and extra hole which we placed on the axis.  We were testing the ball in our home house, AMF synthetic lanes which are dressed with the Kegel Elite machine.  Our tester is a smooth right handed bowler, who throws between 17 and 18 m.p.h. and between 18 and 21 revolutions.

Wow, does this ball move!  We normally stay with less aggressive balls with shiny surfaces and medium to small flare patterns.  This ball had a wide flare with the 5" drilling, and was just looking for a place to hook as soon as we let it go!  The carry was exceptional but with the speed we were throwing, there had to be solid oil in order to make the ball worth throwing.  This is the kind of ball that isn't shy about telling you when the lanes are breaking down.  We seemed to be going from pocket strikes to 4-10's and 4-6-7-10's almost from one shot to the next.  We normally see a high four pin or a late nine pin before leaving a big split, not with this ball.  As we moved in, we continued to be amazed at the carry and we never did find a limit to how far we could move in.  The ball always made it back with enough muscle to carry.

We would have to say that this ball would have to be reserved for those who throw lots of speed, those who bowl on lots of oil or both.  This ball could be your favorite but it could also give you fits, depending on how much oil the conditions start with and how quickly they break down.  We loved the move it made and the drive it had through the pins, it's just that we were having problems staying ahead of the break down.  If anyone had better luck polishing this ball, we'd love to find out what you used!

Interesting!  Great? I don't know yet but not what I expected.

Got this 1.5 inch pin out ball with 3.5 ounces of top weight this week.
Read the specs and the reviews and thought I was getting a heavy oil ball.
NOT REALLY.

Drilled this babe up with the pin under the ring finger stacked.  Ended with lots of top weight and 3/4 side!  The surface comes lightly polished for a particle.

I thought this would compare to Reaction Roll I had drilled stacked at 3 3/8. But a little less total boards covered.  NOT REALLY.

This ball which ended up about 5 X 5 with my PAP.  Really gets down the lane on a freshly oiled league condition.  (IT surprisingly travels real straight in the heads and midlane).  Most of my drillings have pin next to ring finger.

It reminds me more of my Very Good Pro Zone Violet as sort of a medium heavy oil particle ball(drilled almost the same PRo Zone maybe a little more surface).  This one even with a lower RG does not quite rev as much as the Pro
Zone Violet in the heads.  (Is it the Top Weight, less surface I don't know). Then when the PRO Zone makes a very hard but smooth backend move This thing turns quite a bit harder and generates a lot of angle and striking power at the rack!

Where my Pro Zone Violet carries everything light.  It leaves a lot of wrap 7 pins when solid in the pocket.  (over 20 258's with it).  This ball carries light, and flush and left no 7s in my practice session.  As easy to hit the pocket as the Pro Zone? Almost but not quite.

I expected from other reviews the Wicked,(similar core shape and specs) early revs and too much midlane for my style.

I did not get it.  I got closer to the Rock On with more length.
I did not feel that I could really play inside and swing with this ball as a comparison I pulled out the Demolition Zone(stronger pin) and could swing from 13 out to 8.  This ball had to go 10 to 9 only but big flush backend.

Less strength and more length than I thought and then more backend than I typically see on a particle.  This ball may make it into the bag.  Maybe I 'll pick up its reactive brother the Virus which may Generate a lot of flip with smoothness.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS To use on the heaviest stuff this puppy will need a little scuff job from box!

This up date is long over due. I've been bowling in a house with wood lanes and lately the shots been real different. My regular balls(Predator- hammer truck)
Just haven't been doing then job in the first game and a half. The predator doesn't move like it use to and hits soft leaving alot of corner pins. The Hammer Truck is not a first game ball (to much oil first game). So I've gone into my vault (locker) and found this sitting waaaay in the back and thought
Id give her another try. (put it away the first time because of LACK of oil in my house at the time. That was over a year ago.) Anyhow, Glad I kept this oiler around because this ball moves... and moves alot. I stand on the 30board with my left foot. (I'm left handed) and throw it out over 12 out to 4 and BANGGG, nothing standing. This ball hits hard and the carry is awsome. Covers a ton of boards too. With all the new balls out today that are so called OILERS, I'll still put this up against best of them. Because this ball has been on the market for sometime now, you should be able to pick one up at a pretty good price. I give the deadly virus a 9.5 hook and a 10 on carry percentage. But only a 6 versatility.   Great Ball....  NU-LINE Keep up the good work.

JUst an update.

I've reviewed this ball before.

2 inch pin out drilled stacked just sort of under and slightly inside ring finger.
4 X 4.

Polished this up after dulling.  Less polish than out of box.

My league condition is 43 feet with sloppy backends and a nice tricky little gleaze outside of 10.  Most of the time a ton of hold area, lots of pocket hits carry is a problem.

Only ball I threw all night practice included.

SHot must be swung inside of 10 and then out with a lot of recovery to carry.

This motor fits the occassion.

All you see is this thing motoring all the way down the lane, Rev, Rev Rev, hook, continue, carry.  I never even found out if there was hold and carrydown cause this thing just cut right thru it.  I think perfect for Pattern B on the tour!

You supply a little side roll and the speed, keep the petal to the metal and this thing will carry all night!  Ease up a little and and you are thru the nose every time!!

For the bowler that doesn't supply all the hand in the world but can supply the spped this ball will bring it.

This and it's even more explosive brother the Virus are truly hook and carry in a box.

Next to me a 265 with a Revmaster and on right of me a 245, 230 with a REvmaster too.  All the same or very similar motor.

With this ball heavy oil scuff, or medium with carrydown polish appropriately and you can look like the "man with the hand".

I hear the EZ Money has a better cover (more adjustable), I'll soon let you know.

REgards,

Luckylefty
Deadly, Virus, Revmaster, EZ Money all one of the best motors in the business!

Rounder than a Evolution Extra.

Had like 3 7 pins all night.  maybe 2.  A couple of splits and to give you an idea of recovery power I had one gutter and a ball almost just like it that caught board 1 and still got a good piece of the pocket, 13 at the arrows to 1 and back again.

To give you an idea of strength on pair next to me a similar handed lefty was using the powerful Vortex II and was playing quite a bit straighter!!!
All aroun

I have been rolling this ball for about 2 months now, and I am convinced that this is the best heavy oil ball I have ever thrown or owned. This ball is very forgiving and will carry when you hit the pocket light. This ball doesn't leave many 10 pins at all. I recommend this ball to anyone.

Folks I threw this ball label drilled pin at 3 o'clock.

Top hat 40 ft of oil Brunswick Syththetic lanes.

I have to tell you it hooked like any other columbia produced ball.

The people at Columbia produce quality products and are proud of what they make.

Its a good ball hooks a ton but so does everything else.

Kool name so if that floats your boat go get one.
