what are the pba tour finals

I see on CBS sports network pba has a tour finals event round 1.  Is that live.  If not when did they do the matches.

I love the moment where Belmo says... "I hate this shit!" on tv... I am all for bowling on tv, but things like this with no viewers watching the event live, and with all the arcade games behind it looks bad to our sport!

Unwatchable!!  I think high school kids with a $500 dollar budget and a phone could do a better production than this.  I'm sure no expense was spared as from the looks of things hundreds were spent. It even seemed to me that this was the last place several of the players wanted to be.

some players seemed upset and annoyed to be there it appeared.  not many smiles, just going through the motions.  Got to love it when almost half the audience is industry people and not the public

They should seem interested, $30k for the winner is still a "lot" of money in the bowling world these days. Not compared to other sports like fishing and all where winners of tourneys get well over $100k i believe. Sponsorship is what is killing bowling, or lack thereof.

Competitive bowling is killing itself . . sponsors don't want anything to do with it in the condition it's in, and sponsor dollars aren't going to fix a fundamentally deficient product, just going to prop it up for a while.  One of my sayings is that if the product is good, you won't have to worry about the numbers.  Product sucks, and until the product is fixed, the numbers will reflect that.

Can anyone tell me exactly when bowling had any decent sponsors or prize money.  I am 69 years old, and not in my lifetime has more than 8 or 9 guys been able to make a living from the game at any one time.  A good friend of mine was a top 20 money winner for 2 straight years with a title in the late 70's.  He had a down year the 3rd year and was off the tour with no sponsor in year 4.

Best chance would likely have been 70s to the 90s.  Money was the same or better than now with a much lower cost of living.  That's probably the best era professional bowling has seen.

70s and 80s weren't as bad as today, but Firestone was the only decent sponsor, and anyone below the top 10 in money was one bad year away from going broke.  My old doubles partner had 3 titles and 7 seconds during that period and he will be working in a pro shop till he is 70.
