I know that the Guru is a solid Asym, and the Yeti Uncaged is a pearl sym, yet I hear the same thing about both balls... longer, sharper off the pattern. Feedback as to when to choose 1 over the other? (get both, I know....)

I own both. They're very different balls designed for different conditions.

The Guru is a heavy oil ball. It needs significant head and mid-lane oil to keep from prematurely burning up. On any flatter PBA/Sport patterns 40 feet +, it's my first ball out of the bag. I really like the way the ball transitions from oil to down lane friction.

For me, the Yeti Uncaged is a good all around THS ball. I can use it on everything from light/medium to heavier/medium conditions. It's very versatile. I have pearls that are sharper when they encounter friction (i.e. Motiv Primal Rage), but I prefer the Uncaged for it's predictability.

I'm hard pressed to think where I would choose between the Guru and Uncaged. For me they respectively cover conditions that don't really overlap. If you have to choose, it really depends on what you see more often.

If you're looking for an everyday, good on a variety of lane conditions ball I would go with the Yeti Uncaged. It's very versitle and can handle the majority of lane conditions with the exceptions of the heavy oil or heavy burn.

Those are two great balls. The main thing is what are you looking for and what you have already? I would suggest getting both because they're for two different things. One will start sooner (Guru) and make an aggressive move down lane. This was one of the things that many love about the Guru. Most balls that are tend to start sooner don't give you that down lane motion you're looking for. The Guru in itself is a game changer. There isn't another ball that has the motion that this ball has. You need oil and would be the 1st ball out of your bag. The Uncaged is for more medium lane conditions or when the lanes begin to burn up a bit and you need something to get down lane and give you down lane motion. The Uncgaed is very clean and since it's sym. it won't respond the same as the Guru (Asym) when it encounters friction. The Uncaged is skid/flip. The Guru is rev and hook a lot.

Thanks for the links. It really sounds like I need both. This will get me in the doghouse for sure, but it makes perfect sense to me....
