Jackpot makes big debut
« on: March 29, 2016, 12:26:51 PM »
Well its been a long year this year, I've been dealing with a nagging back issue since mid-October, found a new Chiropractor and things look to be going in the right direction. Received the Jackpot and had it drilled up last Friday took it straight to the lanes and bam 300. I'm really happy with the motion of this ball, I'll be writing a review later this week after getting a few more games on it.

Mine should be here monday, looking forward to adding it to tournament bag

I'm sure you will find it very useful. Apparently only until June. Per the industry experts in this thread. Thanks for the support.

Thanks and pretty much all I am throwing right now are the new Radical pieces.

That guy just sounds like he is bitter about something or just a fan of some other companies equipment.

Nope nothing against Radical at all.I have the Guru Mighty ,Grease Monkey. Yeti Uncaged and Monkey Whack. It was just the way it was said.It will be around a long time.Everytime I find a ball I like it  after 3 months its on clearance. Then when you need something you have to go threw a few turds to match up again.Kinda getting Ridicoulous,But I understand thats the way ball companies are surviving.Just my 2 cents that really don't mean a thing in this big ole world. Also I have a few Brunswick pieces don't want Nick to feel to bad.To be truthfull the Strike king is the perfect houseshot ball here in the dry south. The Einstien is the bomb my fav asymmetric piece.

First off, thanks for the support. Let me shed some light on how a ball company looks at it.
Not every ball we make is ideal for every bowler. We rely on the bowler and pro shop to pick and choose what is best for them. We plan our launches so that a verity of styles and conditions will be covered and than add in the different price points. When the sales on a ball whose performance and price point is covered by a new launch slows down we stop making them, they aren't bad they are just no longer in production. Like an IPhone, people that like a 4s are out of luck to buy a new one because they are no longer in production, but they may be in someone's inventory and become available at a discount.
We get lots of request for balls that preform like an older balls, usually about a year or so after the ball is out of production, so we plan on balls with similar motion but may have a new core or better cover. We try for an improved version. The latest and greatest my be the holy grail to someone and a "turd" to someone else simply because of the performance target we are aiming at.
We do try and keep some similarity in performance so that it has the Radical look to it.
When you find one you really like, look on our ball chart and see if there is one in the same quadrant. The tweak in the cover or the slight variation in drilling will usually get you to the performance you had.  We do not discontinue balls as quickly as some of our competitors do and by the same token we actually launch the least of all ball companies.
I hope this helps explain some of the why's and what for's of Radical.

Was wondering how the Jackpot compares to the original Ridiculous. My Ridiculous is great when there is some built in friction but was expecting it to be a tad bit stronger overall. I am a sucker for those cores in the 2.50 and .055 range. So what's the Jackpot going to offer different than the Ridiculous?

Break the cover on the ridiculous with 2000 or 3000 and see if it gives you what you are looking for. The jackpot is smother and a bit sooner. Not a sharp off the spot as the ridiculous.

Jackpot is great so far.  Hit the cover with a 4000 right away to break the surface a little.  Ball has been really good on THS, but also good on sport patterns once a spot has been made in the patter.

Why did the original Primo get canned after less than 8 months?  I love the Primo and plan to order a Primo Solid next week to complement it as something for when my original Primo won't quite make the turn.

The Jackpot is also on my list of balls to buy and put aside for when my Torrid Elite needs replacing.  Radical is really doing a great job right now with their offerings.  The Ridiculous Asym is also on my short list, but I wish it was a different color [I know...first world problems...haha].

The Primo was taken out of production ( better choice of words ) after 8 months because inventory levels had fallen to a controllable amount and we didn't think we would need to produce any more. 8 months according to the industry in an extremely long time. We add pieces to compliment the line. Ridiculous Asym, Jackpot etc.
Thanks for he support.

Sales seem to dictate how long a ball sticks around.I have mentioned this before.Seems like when you find something you match up with better by a couple and put one or two back.
As for the Primo I have not thrown one.Maybe the color wasn't appealing.I really like the solids looks.Sometimes I wonder about some of the colors Ball companies try.Shelf appeal sells that's a fact.Ball can be fantastic 'But if the colors don't catch a persons eye they are not shelling out 200 bucks.
I am in no way bashing Radical or any brand.I throw Radical and Brunswick and sometimes I get to try other brands.I always seem to migrate back to Brunswick's covers.

Don't take this the wrong way because I am a Brunswick family user but the Primo was a fugly looking ball. Not a fan of Brunswick's blue pearl colors. Other companies colors are just more vibrant. And I also think that's where the problem was, the ball probably rolled great just didn't have the Shelf appeal.

No worries.  I think the Primo pearl color combination looks great.  Much deeper and vibrant in person than in photos.  It visually gives off a Brunswick 'tude or Inferno kind of vibe [for those that remember the 'tudes and Inferno].

My issue with the Ridiculous Asym is that it is too reminiscent of the Motiv Primal Rage, Hammer Red Legend Solid, and Storm Fight.  I already have a Primal Rage [that I don't use very much], and really don't want another solid red colored ball.  #toomanyredballs

Now see I think they nailed it with the Ridiculous Asym, love the red solid and the black logos really pop of the cover. Very nice.

I have to admit Radical is a perfect blend of Dynothane and MoRich... especially the Gurus... I am planning on moving entirely to Radical after I get into a Pro Shop this Summer...

Quick question to Newguy or any drillers... I had my Pro Shop drill up a Jackpot using the Mid-lane with continuation layout... Specifically for a house shot. The Driller there is adverse to balance holes... I am at 7/8 thumb and like a 1/2 side... so legal. I am not a driller (yet...) but if the manufacturer calls for a hole, providing the CG is in the proper quadrant, then a hole would only enhance the shape correct? I do not see what ending weights are being targeted... Would I start small drill a bit, toss, evaluate, repeat?

Thanks
