Radical Bag Ripped
« on: October 29, 2015, 05:49:01 AM »
After the problem last year where the strap on one of my Radical bags broke, and I took it to the shoe repair shop to have it strenthened, now there is a large tear near the zipper where you keep the shoes.

Even though it says you can put a pair of shoes in one bag, I have always put one shoe in each bag, because it seems like putting both shoes in one, would cause damage.

The only other things I put in are towels, a small bottle of ball cleaner and a pack of Forest Hand Conditioner and one of Easy Slide.  Plus a hard plastic thing I set my spare ball on.

The plastic piece is probably what ripped it, but in my old Columbia bags I used the same spare ball-holder for years and never had a problem.

I really have tried hard to support Radical, buying two balls(so far), two bags, two Radical towels and two of their shirts, but it seems the bags are very cheaply made.

I really like the way they look, so I hope the shoe repair guy can sew this one up OK and I guess I will just carry the spare ball holder in my hand.

Why not contact Radical for a replacement?  Bags come with warranties.

Contact Kr Strikeforce. They are the supplier and license the brand for bags. There is a limited warranty which may help.

Last season, when the strap ripped, I contacted the website I bought it from, bowlingball.com, and I would have had to ship it back, at my cost, and if they determined it was my fault, it would still not be covered.

And I would be without a bag for several weeks.

Turned out it was about the same price to have the shoe repair guy fix it as to ship it back, and he did a great job reinforcing the straps of both bags.

I guess I will just go to the same guy and have him repair this rip, he will only charge me a few bucks, and I will just keep my sharp-edged plastic ball-holder out of my bags.

As Phil stated above contact KR Strikeforce (the manufacturer) not where you bought it from.  Normally the manufacturer's are pretty helpful if it is still under warranty.  I've had my Radical bags for 2+ years and haven't had any problems with them.  They've gone to Nationals and back twice and traveled to probably 75 other tournaments with me.

Their website has the same conditions as the selling website:

Any defective product returned for repair must be shipped prepaid to us at the above address. Shipping costs for return of the replaced or repaired product to the purchaser shall be at the expense of Strikeforce Bowling L.L.C.

It's not worth the shipping cost, but I will keep their info on hand if anything worse goes wrong.

Cannot help but wonder how many possible warranty claims the manufacturer escapes from having to honor, because of the shipping cost issue.  I think this is referred to as a "loophole".
It would be like GM, Ford, and other car companies stating they will repair your car under warranty.......... at their warranty repair facility in Alaska.

This is another reason to support local pro shops. At our shop, if a bowler purchases a Radical bag, or any other bag for that matter, and there is a warranty issue, they can bring it into the shop and we will ship it back for them at no charge to the customer. The internet is nice until you need something fixed or exchanged.
