Yeti Uncaged comments?

Looking at picking up a Yeti Uncaged on closeout, but not really seeing many comments. I saw a review on Youtube that said it's best for those who throw away from the pocket... Does that make it a non-starter for anyone who plays down and in, and/or does that make it a good ball for anyone who doesn't normally play straighter to get a new look?

Any general love/hate with the ball?

Mine is drilled 4 x 4 x 2 OOB no surface adjustments.  For me, it's rolly and doesn't overreact. I like this ball a lot but at the house I bowl at, a Ringer is too strong. I'm somewhat of tweener. I haven't really tried a down and in but I also don't throw coast to coast either. For me, it's not a hockey stick reaction when it starts to move in the mid lane and is continuous through the pin.

Since I'm not familiar with the Ringer personally, but have heard it's more of a medium ball, sounds like you're saying the Uncaged is weaker than you thought?

Both are drilled the same and left both OOB.  I can't say the Uncaged is weaker, it's just a different motion than the ringer. The Uncaged goes longer than my Ringer.  I believe this is due to the scoop technology.

The Yeti Uncaged is the first ball I pull out of the bag for my second shift THS league. The last few weeks, it's the only ball I've thrown. I threw a consistent 246-260-276 with the Uncaged the other night. 
 
I have mine drilled pin just above ring. The Uncaged has plenty of backend when it finds friction. It's not crazy backend, but predictable across different angles. Depending on conditions, I'll play it straight up the boards, but invariably have to move in and swing a bit as the oil starts to go. 
 
The Uncaged is not a weak pearl. It's only slightly weaker than my Motiv Primal Rage, but I trust the Uncaged more. I wish I had another one in storage.

You will like it. You can really fine tune the reaction by changing the surface.  You can get earlier and more rolly by dulling it and if you shine it up it will get down the lane and be more angular.

Steve, I got one in 14# from ebay and have been using it for about a week now.  I had it drilled back in June but never got the chance to use it until recently.  I find that it has a very strong backend and allows me to move deeper than I would normally.  I saw that they were on closeout too, so I just ordered a 15# (no 14s), I like it that much.


As a lefty, you might be able to use it down and in, but on our new (what seems to play as a lighter volume) oil pattern here, I haven't been able to.  I might be able to if I could generate more ball speed but at the present time, I can't do that.

Thanks guys. I actually was hoping for a 14, but I also ordered the 15 since there are no 14's left. I've been toying with going back up in weight, but for a closeout price, couldn't resist getting a 15....

They have been on close out for quite some time at Buddies but they didn't have 14's only 15's.  I'm tempted to buy a 15 and save it and sell it on EBay in 2 years for $300.  No, just kidding.

Like many Radical balls, the Uncaged flew under the radar. It's definitely one of the better aggressive pearls out there. I've owned two Motiv Prinal Rage balls (drilled different), and at least for me, the Uncaged is a superior ball.
