My biggest concern with this ball is that it does need sufficient oil in the first half of the lane so that it pushes far enough before it makes its strong move to the left. I enjoy having this ball in my arsenal - its strong read of the midlane is great midblock as you migrate towards the centre of the lane. I find that with this ball I require larger moves to the left than usual but by the same token it allows me to open up the lane more than any of my other equipment.

As in a couple other of my reviews, I drilled this for some of the tournaments I bowled the last few weeks. Various Patterns used on.

Layout

5 inch pin, MB @ 55 degrees.

First few shots I threw with this ball I was impressed by how it went through the pins and kept everything pretty low. Wasn't over aggressive off the dry, just had a great motion overall. Found myself using this ball some on the fresh and some on the burnt due to it being enough hook overall but not to much to get myself in trouble. Again yet another great product from Brunswick. Keep up the good work guys!!

Observations:
Easy through the fronts with good mid lane read. Handles carry down like nothing I’ve ever used, nearly eliminating that transition. You don’t get the over/under you get from many other balls when this ball goes from wet to dry. What you do get is a very forgiving, smooth transition, that carries from almost any angle.

Conclusions:
I didn’t practice with this ball at all before stepping into league and the second game I bowled a 300. Forgiving, smooth and powerful are the words I use to describe this reaction. This is a major step in technology and I recommend you take a look at what Brunswick is doing!

After using my new Python for a couple of months and loving it, I finally got around to drilling up the C-system.

I drilled it 45 X 5 X 30 which put the pin above the ring finger about an inch and the MB about 2" left of my thumb (left handed). Weight hole 1" above my PAP and not into core. Another great piece from Brunswick. I can get in a bit more to the right with my feet and open up my launch angles with this ball as opposed to my Python which prefers a little straighter attack on the lanes. The recovery down lane with the C-system is impressive.

I will post more as I get to roll it on a few different patterns.

Cover: Out of Box.

This ball has a motion that has been missing from brunswick's line. The cover/core allows the ball to push 1 to 2 feet futher than what you would expcet and the ball does not lose recovery at all. The recovery from the cover down the lane and to the right is a great aspect of this ball. Even with such a strong core, stronger layouts will not create a problem.

Strength: Cover, Cover and Cover.

Weakness: If I find one I will let everyone know.

I have used this ball on the PBA's Scorpion pattern on a surface that was harder than pro anvil. I was able to use the ball inside and out side. For me Scorpion can some times be difficult for my style when it comes to down the lane and to the right. This ball allows me a few extra boards to the right and angle error.

On the Kegal short pattern the Boardwalk I have room to the inside, that extra push from the cover/core allows me 4 to 5 board area on this pattern.

Bowler Information:
Track diameter is 11 5/8.
PAP is measured at 4 11/16 over and 11/16 up.
Average ball speed (foul line to head pin) is 13 mph.
Axis rotation is typically 90 degrees
Initial rev rate is typically 200 rpm, "Tweener"

Review:
While I am out recovering from Hip replacement surgery, I am having my daughter Ashley test this ball for me. 180 Average 17 year old with medium to slow speed and a low spinner type track.

In one word "WOW". What a ball. It is her start with ball, her most confident ball in the bag. Numerous houses and different lines with this ball and the ball adjust beautifully to all of them. Gets through the fronts so clean, reacts so well on the back end part of the lane, reads the carry down very well. I am the most impressed with the cross alley spares, the ball does not over squirt going towards 4-7's and 6-10's. All styles will like this ball. I have not experimented with different surfaces with this ball due to how good the reaction is out of the box with this ball.

Bottom line, Mr. Salivno/Brunswick you have something very special with this ball. Actually has a better look on the lane then Storm's Virtual Gravity. More predictable but just as strong. Brunswick has really done their homework with this ball. This is one of those balls everyone has to try. Looking forward to future CS models.

Drilled this ball 5"x10degreesx5" which placed the pin below my ring finger.

I was looking for a ball that read the midlanes and still had something on the back end. My release mistakes are always to stay behind the ball and loose axis rotation which ultimately produces plaque 10's. So finding a ball that will let me get away with even some of these would be a benifit.

What I recieved was this and more. When I release this ball correctly the ball goes through the pins like nothing else I have thrown... it produce more entry angle and my ball actually hits the 8 pin sometimes. Thats a far cry from a strike where the ball goes staright through the pin deck entering on 17.5 and off the tail plank at 17.5. Sure I leave some 9's (LOL) but they are easier than 10's and alot more fun.

As for the issue with my relases, this ball somehow does not deflect as much in the pocket despite the ball rolling end over end into the pins. Some of the plaque 10's are gone. I think there might be something to this Salvino technology.

i drilled up a c-system 2.5 for my mixed league which is on wood lanes that are in excellent condition. the usual oil pattern is a 39' blend with very little crown in the middle.

i had the ball drilled with a typical drill pattern that i commonly use......pin next to ring finger, cg stacked, and the psa located just to the right and slightly below the thumbhole. an extra hole 1" in diameter was drilled to touch the core and was placed an inch below my pap. i had the coverstock finished with 2,000 abralon and highly polished.

i was not prepared for how much more this ball hooks than my rattler( which is currently 500 abralon and polished ). the roll and drive thru the pocket is very different than the rattler and every other brunswick ball i've used. i could send this ball almost anywhere to the right and it would return....hard.

i tried several releases( 25, 45, and 60 degrees of axis rotation ), several lines on the lane( straight down 8-9, swinging 12 to 6, swinging 18 to 12) and was impressed with the balls roll and carry. on days where there was carrydown a straighter approach worked as well as swinging the ball on a fresh shot. this ball looks to be a winner as the first night in league saw every game in the 240's. the only pins left standing were solid taps on the backrow.

I brought it down to 2000 abralon to tame the brake point down a little. I really love it at this surface. Just as clean in the front and a little more tame on the back. The boys over at Big B have really hit a few home runs lately. Keep them coming!

I have been using this ball for a while, changing surfaces to experiment with the new coverstock. I am confident now that the 2000 finish suits my game the best. The 4000/4000 polish gave me too much skid/flip, and 1000 was way too aggressive.

The ball gets through the pins better with the surface adjustment. Don't be scared to tweak it if you think yours is not hitting hard enough. You do need some head oil. I've bowled in a few older houses with beat up synthetic lanes and the C System reads that extra friction too much.

It's a good benchmark ball to start your block with.

I used a similar layout to what was on my Siege because I was looking for this ball to complement the Siege when it started to have trouble cornering at the end of the pattern.

Let me say this up front, I have never, and I mean NEVER, seen a ball that drives through the pins like this ball does. It was on the 30th board on several occasions as it left the pin deck after a flush hit. Nothing I’ve ever thrown or anything that I’ve seen other people throw hit like this ball does. Period.

I knew this ball would be too much on my THS but I had to test it out on it anyway just for fun. On fresh I laid the ball down on 25 and sent it out to around 6 at the breakpoint. The midlane was very strong, as was the recovery. As long as the ball was between 10 and 3 at the breakpoint, it got back to the pocket. However, between the characteristics of my center and the THS we put out, outside angles always score better compared to playing deeper, so I had an even better look amping up my speed and playing 15 (laydown) to 7(breakpoint). But it still wanted more oil…

On the scorpion, the ball was more at home due to the increased length and units of the pattern. I started out using my Siege with a very similar drill with a laydown of 14 out to 10. When I threw the C-S in practice, I was 2 boards further inside due to more response at the end of the pattern. During transition, my Siege saw a little carrydown and started to deflect through the pins. I switched to my C-S and stayed with the same line in practice that I had found. I couldn’t tell the carrydown was even there!

If you are looking for a ball for longer patterns and higher volumes that isn’t sensitive to carrydown, then the C-System is for you. In talking with Chris Loschetter last week, he said that its ability to handle the carrydown seen on tour is why it is in the bags of so many of the free agents (including him). If this ball isn’t in your bag, you’re missing out on a great product.

This ball has been fantastic for me! While the ball comes pearlized, I have found that it works best with some measure of head oil to help it retain energy for the back end.

The ball picks up in the midlane very consistently and finishes strong through the pocket. My rev rate is in the 285-315 range so I seldom see a ball really peel off of the spot when higher volumes of oil are used but the C System has given me a larger window on those conditons. As the shot migrates in I have been able to stay with this ball far deeper than I had expected. A hand position change and a little faith into the dry and the ball shreds the rack.

If you haven't tried the latest generations of Brunswick bowling balls you have left a hole in your bag. The new coverstocks create more of the sexy snap people are looking for but still have the legendary Brunswick durability. Game 1 and game 101 the ball will cure what ails you!

This will be agreat ball for people needing a benchmark ball.

I bowl on a fresh house pattern on harder synthetics, as well as a second shift league. This ball has been great on both, but it seems to get better as the back ends start to transition and other pearls want to "skate" if they hit carry-down.

Overall ball motion is nice, but HOW the ball reads the lane is unique in my opinion. This ball doesn't know the meaning of deflection through the pin deck. It simply provides a strong move late on the lane without being unpredictable. This ball has given me the confidence to open up the lane more and more as the night goes on with EXCEPTIONAL pin carry.

Brunswick and Mr. Salvino are onto something special with this release.

Purpose:

To bridge the gap between the Wild Ride/Wild Thing and the “Snake” balls. More specifically, to get recovery from the friction on conditions where the Wilds are burning up, but where there isn’t quite enough dry for the Rattler and Python to make the turn in back.

Why this ball?

The intent of the CFG 2.5 coverstock that is used on the C-(System) 2.5 is to provide a stronger reaction to friction than what is currently available in the Brunswick line. When combined with a moderately strong asymmetric core, it seemed to me that the C-(S) could give me the reaction shape that I was seeking.

Observations:

The first time I used the C-(System) 2.5 was at a center with five-year-old Pro Anvilanes, on a pair of lanes that had been used for a qualifying squad for an ABT tournament. I warmed up with the Rattler, and as long as I didn’t get the ball too wide of target, I had a good look at the pocket. I then switched to the C-(S), and found my best look from eight-and-four left of where I had started. From there, the C-(S) was creating some hold for me, while still recovering nicely from the house track.

I’ve used the C-(System) at the same center in a second-shift league. Typically, I don’t like to use pin-down equipment in this league, for while there is plenty of free hook to the outside, the condition tends to favor a more direct trajectory to the pocket. The C-(S) has been clean enough through the front part of the lane to allow me to play the lanes in this fashion, though, while still having enough strength in the back part of the lane to give me a good carry angle.

I’ve also used this ball several times at a center with HPL in front and older wood in back, on a fresh condition with fairly high volume in front and clean back ends. On this condition, the C-(System) was really at home, as I could get my feet left and align myself to the dry boards, and not have to worry about whether the ball would recover. Even on shots where I missed right, the C-(S) retained well enough to finish strong and carry the corners.

Conclusions:

Usually, when I have a ball that is strong off of friction, it doesn’t do so well at riding an oil line, and vice versa. The C-(System) 2.5 gives me the best of both worlds, and in addition, it has that strong look through the pin deck that the Wilds and the Python have. In addition, this ball seems to get better and better as I go deeper on the lane I’ve yet to encounter an inside limitation with the C-(S).

The C-(S) doesn’t seem to break the lane down quite as quickly as balls such as the Radical Inferno and Wild Ride have for me, and the C-(S) doesn’t read transition quite as abruptly.

While I had originally viewed the C-(System) 2.5 as a ball to take me from the Wilds to the Snakes, I’m finding that, on conditions with enough friction to allow me to give away the pocket, I can stay with the C-(S) and keep following the transition deeper inside.
