no rules vs no rules pearl
« on: February 12, 2017, 09:09:34 PM »
Hey guys, sorry if there is anything like already, but...

I was an avid bowler growing up until I hit about 20. Bowling just hit a point where it wasn't as fun and there were other interests at that point so I gave it up.  Fast forward about 11 years now and my 7 year old has taken a huge interest in bowling so I kinda had that itch to get back into it as it's something we can enjoy together.

I went in to the local pro shop, I'm across country now so I can't just walk into my old one, and the guy there has me looking at the No rules and the no rules pearl.  Obviously the Pearl is more of an every day bowling ball which is nice, but I'm deciding if I want to get the big ball now and get more of a cheaper every day ball later (hell yeah tax returns) or get the Pearl now and possibly find a cheaper option for a big ball later.

Any input is great, maybe you guys can help with the argument between the two in my head haha.

I would have suggested the solid.  Played against a gentleman throwing it on Monday.  Stroker type.  That ball was just killing it for him....for the first two games.

Game 3 he was getting tapped and could have used a step down.

So I love the way the ball rolls. However not a huge fan of how I was fit and drilled. I've heard from people he was good but he seems to drill with that old school mentality that a stretched grip means more revolutions on a ball. Hopefully it will just be an adjustment by me and some getting used to but as of now, kinda disappointed at the fit for paying for a premium ball.

I've adjusted to the drilling. It took a bit but it's working for me now. This ball has been phenomenal for me. For a stroker like me, this is a great first out of the bag ball. I couldn't ask for anything more. Whenever I add to my arsenal, it will likely be for a more powerful ball so I can use at one of the alleys around here which likes using heavy oil.

I don't think you're going to find a ball much stronger than the No Rules solid. I'd also be worried if you even think your span is stretched.

It's not stretched. It felt like it was in the beginning but I must've been doing something weird with my hand cuz it's been fine ever since.

And I have eyes on the no rules solid. It'll be awhile before I buy another ball. Hopefully the price drops by the time I buy a second ball.
