INK or IQ Tour
« on: December 17, 2017, 12:15:43 AM »
I was told to look at the IQ tour solid for when the lanes break down. Would this be the ball or should I look at the Ink, or maybe even something else?

Wouldn't suggest IQ for breakdown. Mine grabs too early personally for that. Hustle Ink or Hy-Road Pearl.

So even if I polish it, would it grab? Fyi I do throw the ball harder.  I was  also thinking about a Hyroad Pearl as well.

Alonzo gave some good advise, but seeing that you throw it harder, then I say that it would be ok to purchase the !Q seeing that it’s a smooth predictable motion that’s also consistent throughout the lane.

Hy-Road Pearl, or the Hustle Ink would only make sense if the threw it more firmer; They both would go through the breakpoint and cause over/under.  Go !Q with light polish.

Because of my speed which is around 16 -17  that is why I was leaning IQ --- pin up I believe as well.

That’s fine, or pin right of ring (for a little more flare)  Either way, it fits what your trying to accomplish.

If you are going to put light polish on Iq tour Id suggest the INK with the polish knocked off (4000)....
I have:  IQ tour 4 inch pin to pap,  40 VAL  @2000
             INK      5 1/4 pin to pap,   70 VAL  @4000

They are a great 1-2 punch!
I find about 4 boards difference between them and very very similar movement, ink cleaner in front a just a bit more pop on back....

I'm trying to figure out what layout to put on my INK actually. My IQ is 4.5"x35 4000 plus lane shine. It's pretty darn flippy. I want my INK to flare a little more and be a touch smoother on the backend. So I'm thinking 4"x50 and then play with the surface from there.

I have:
IQ Tour - pin in ring (~3.5x45) hole down VAL @ 500/2000
IQ Tour - 5x40 hole down VAL @ 1000/4000 + lane shine
Ink - pin in ring, OOB

I'm high rev, but speed dominant due to high high speed - 18-19 MPH at sensors.

I bowl 2 leagues - one second shift on a 41' overblock on newer synthetics, one first shift on a 39' shot that breaks down quickly on older synthetics.

Pin in ring IQ Tour is my benchmark, but I don't get to throw it much in league. Too early and smooth to carry consistently on house conditions. It rolls great on fresh sport shots.

Pin in ring INK is more of a league benchmark ball for me. It is similar in shape to the first IQ, but cleaner and a few board weaker overall. The surface makes it more functional on house shots than the first IQ, and it comes into play on any house shot that requires some backend control.

5" p2p with lane shine is longer and harder off the spot than either. It's a true house shot killer for me across a wide variety of houses and had made me more money than any other ball I've had.

Seems to be the way to go with IQ Tours nowadays. They are still predictable, but I don't find them to be very smooth at all. I still like what it does though because it seems to be very good at coming off the spot.

IQ Tour is not really a ball for when the lanes break down.  If the heads are gone but there's a bit of carrydown, using it on these conditions is usually flat 7 or 10-pin city.  It's better on the fresh (if the fresh isn't heavy) and for when the back end's are flying and you need control.

Metal_Rules, what are you balling down from?

Will give a shout out to Storm/Roto and say long term perhaps make it a INK and IQ Tour.  Both are stand out balls.

If I get an Ink, I will go 55x4.5x 60. I want it to definitely get that 10-pin out!

I am balling down from either Intense, Code Red or Defiant Soul ---  back ends on my Friday league are drying out fast.

In all honesty, if the lines are burnt that you can play with any of those, I would recommend the Hy-Road Pearl.
