Outcry - new/improved Rising Star???
« on: September 16, 2014, 02:11:58 PM »
Been using my Rising Star, pin under for my medium lane condition with great success.
Rising Star starting to show some wear and tear.  Question, is the Outcry, the new and improved RS?  Understood one is a pearl vs. hybrid, any input related to this new release is much appreciated.

Rising Star is a Hybrid also.  With a higher diff than the Outcry.

The Outcry, the Rumble, and the Uproar are all balls with only .30 diff.

I have an UpRoar and I don't believe in drilling this core weak!  Unless you are mega handed.

I thought the Wrecker was the replacement for the Rising Star.

The Wrecker and Rising Star were nothing alike. The Wrecker is known for its backend. The Rising Star was more of a benchmark.

Ah, ok. I was mistaken then. I have a Rising Star and two Wreckers, but never drilled them up, so just assumed incorrectly.

Thanks

Both Outcry and Rising Star are hybrids.  Other than the lessor total diff. of the Outcry 15's 2.55 .030 to Rising Star 2.55 .042 I believe you can draw some correlations.  Probably slightly stronger cover Ultimate Vision Hybrid to 53M Hybrid.  The Outcry would be closer than a Wrecker to a Rising Star.  JMO.

Oh, my Rising Star is different from the Wrecker in more ways than just color?  With the same core and both Hybrid coverstocks?  Guide me here....please.

I have quite a bit of backend in both of my Rising Stars.  One pin up and pin down?

Luckylefty

Have a Rising Star pin drilled out of middle
Have an OutCry pin above middle...

Would like to comment that the OutCry is a modern version of the Rising Star. On volume with both being fresh covers I'd add that the Rising Star would provide relatively more push/recovery.
OutCry being slightly smoother...

Both the Wrecker and Rising Star are the same ball...... the Wrecker has a slightly stronger cover formulation but it was about maybe 1 or 2 boards stronger than the Rising Star. The Outcry has a lower diffed core which makes it a bit more cover dominant. You should see a smoother and straighter line to the pocket as opposed to the Rising Star or Wrecker.

I had a Rising Star and a Wrecker.  Both with the same layout pin in ring both OOB the Wrecker was much stronger for me on the same fresh house pattern.  I couldn't use the Wrecker in general on my light to light-medium 39' 12:1 house pattern without moving almost too deep to start inside 3rd.

I find my Rumble at (use a worn 2000 pad with Neo-Tac Hook+ 2500) on this same condition a bit too much.   My Uproar OOB scuffed worn 4000 pad during and after transition is about right for me.  Stats. in profile.  To compare on a Kegel Bourbon St 40' 7:1 all of these balls Rumble, Wrecker, Outcry, Uproar all would work for me.  I could even go up to a Disturbed on the fresh so for me it's all about lane condition and usage.  I am slightly rev dominant and not a fluffer uber speed kegler.

Everyone's mileage may vary on side of lane, lane condition/lane topography, bowling technique/stats. etc.

I had both as well with the same layout however I liked my rising at 2000. Wasn't too much of a difference but the Wrecker was a bit sharper. I also drilled the Wrecker for a guy who loved the Rising Star, did a lot of damage in tournaments and rregionals, with the same layout and the ball was maybe 2 boards of separation. He also went front 22 with the Wrecker but that's another story lol. But that was the reason I said that. I was told that it was the same ball which made me want one, drilled it the same and saw very little difference.

I will agree that topography is a BIG factor in ball reaction.
