Specifically designed to combat tournament short patterns where power must be fuzed with control, the Desperado brings a power house engine wrapped in a mild manered cover. The modified Insignia asymmetric core gives you a smooth yet strong roll, while the Cruise Control Pearl Urethane coverstock gives smoothness through the transitions never letting the ball over react in the dry.

Urethane is back, talking softly but carrying a big stick!

SPECS: Drilled pin over Ring, for pics look at Dave300 pics of the Desperado I bought it from him just moved the thumb slightly to make it my span. Very Slight polish

CHILTON:Modified Cheetah same length with a heavier volume so it holds up during the tourney. Couldnt get a look with my usual suspects, went to the Desperado Slowed up the speed and played a small swing in the drier portion of the lane, 17 out to 12 or so and had a great look. Desperado actually got me back into the cut line, the last game I made bad choices and didnt fix it fast enough.

Ball jumped off the dry not as hard as Resin but more than a normal urethane. It was forgiving on misses left and right. Hit like a Freight train. Also the continuation is amazing just keeps rolling all the way through the deck.

THS SABRE LANES: With old wood lanes and a normal THS I tried Desperado again just to see what it would give me for a look. The House has older well kept wood lanes lots of friction in the track though. I found that I could play anywhere from straight up ten to a little five board swing outside of ten. Carry was very good, ball gave pull room left and miss room right as long as I didnt throw it at mach 1.

HIT/CARRY/ROLL: Very good hit and carry amzing power from a urethane ball it never quits once it picks up the roll just keeps on trucking into the pins and all the way through them. Actually I have left a few nine pins with it thats how hard it drives. Roll is tremendous as mentioned earlier in the section, no quit at all. Smooth and consistent plus it carries like dream.

OVERALL: I like the ball, it gives me a new Dimension on sorter dry patterns when my ball speed and hand sometimes hinder my ability, instead of breaking my wrist I just go to this and I can stay more in my comfort zone. It has good movement as long as I remeber to through it like Urethane NOT like a Reactive ball, good hitting power and a spot in my bag for quite awhile.

Drilled my Christmas present 73* x 4 1/2 x 40*. Or 4 1/2 x 5 3/8 with a 2 1/2" pin buffer if you prefer. This ball is money! If you are rev dominant or speed challenged or bowl on short or burnt out conditions, this is THE ball! It would be a great option for seniors with lower ball speeds. I have used the ball on three day old ths and it is amazing how well it gets through the heads. On a fresh house shot with dry to the outside, it works well and carries well also. Great, controllable midlane read, and smooth but strong arc backend. The carry is more than I had hoped for from a urethane ball. It is a step up in power from another one of my favorites, the Natural. Probably due to the stronger asymmetrical core. For the bowler that realizes that the most hook is not necessarily the best thing, this ball is a must have! If you have some hand, this ball hooks more than enough on many conditions! I have not altered the surface yet, because it is working so good as is. I am sure you could get more length and some more backend with 4000 ab and /or some polish.

This Ball is fantastic! Lay out 4x4 2 1/2 inch pin buffer and this thing rolls like a champ urathane is sooo forgiving just got to keep things in the oil cause that is where it does its hooking drill this ball up yesterday and first set on fresh playing bout 12 to 8 shoot 691 (226, 217, 248) 2nd set was later league right after the fresh shot so little bit of carry down move to 22 shoothing to 11 on other end and ball just stayed there loss of some carry because of carry down but still shoot 679 (232, 235, and 212) amazing first results about this ball highly reccommended if you are lookin at a urathane!

THIS BALL IS MONEY:
IT IS DRILLED WITH THE PIN ABOVE THE RING FINGER AND THE CG BELOW THE RING FINGER.THE MASS BIAS IS NEXT TO THE THUMB. MY DRILLER, AARON WILLIAMS, AT JUST BOWL PRO SHOP IN ALLENTOWN,PA(INSIDE PARKWAY LANES)DID A GREAT JOB IN DRILLING A BALL FOR 2ND SHIFT CONDITIONS. EVER SINCE I STARTED ROLLING THIS BALL,I AM AVERAGING 230 WITH THIS BALL. THE NICE THIS ABOUT THE BALL IS THAT IT DOES NOT JUMP OFF THE DRY. I CAN PLAY STRAIGHT UP 5-7 OR GIVE IT A LITTLE SWING AND THE BALL ALWAYS GETS TO THE POCKET.THE CARRY OF THIS BALL IS AMAZING,AS VERY LIGHT HITS BECOME STRIKES. THE PINS ARE KEPT LOW. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, SEISMIC. I JUST GO THE SOLARIS REQUIEM AND WILL POST A REVIEW WHEN MY DRILLER GETS BACK FROM THE PBA REGIONALS.

BALL SPECS

15 lbs

 DRILL PATTERN

See pic.

BOWLER STYLE

Slow speed and medium revs stroker.

 SURFACE PREPARATION

Grit - 4000 Abralon

Type (Matte, Polish, Sanded) – lightly polished

 LANE CONDITION

Ball works on any short pattern, no matter how thick or light it is in the front.

 BALL REACTION

Length – Depends on oil. Ball hooks as soon as it hits the friction

Back End - strong
Overall Hook – mild, but very predictable (urethane)
Midlane Read – glides through the mids with ease
Breakpoint Shape - mild hockey stick

 COMMENTS

Carry – Unbelievably great, especially for urethane.  No pesky corner pins.
 Likes – Carry and control.

Dislikes – Can’t use it more.  It’s only for short patterns.

Other – I have always been a urethane fan.  I’ve had many of the Faball Hammers and the Storm Natural.  I also tried the Lane #1 Liberator for a few games.  I remember when the Desperado came out I was very intrigued… strong asymmetrical core with a urethane shell.  Different than anything else out there.

I managed to snag this for $20 off Craigslist and boy am I happy!  While my other urethane works on lighter oil, this is the ball you want for short oil patterns.  Unlike other urethane, this ball can handle fresh oil in the fronts and carry does not suffer one bit.  In fact, the carry from this ball impressed me so much that I went out and bought a Solaris Blackout (another unique ball with great carry!).

The striking pattern on this ball gets a lot of comments from other bowlers.  Unfortunately, it was discontinued to problems with core separation.  Grab one of the Desperado LEs while you still can  -- you won’t find anything like it!
