Dominion
« on: February 12, 2013, 02:00:32 PM »
Got it drilled up last night, and all I can say is, "Holy crap!"

I've never had a ball save as much energy and throw so many pins around. The house I got it drilled in laid down a double-run of a tournament pattern, because it was going on for the night.

I don't know the angles of the drilling, as the pro does the standard "x", which mine came out 4.5 x 4. Drilled pin up, with thumb far from MB. I got talked into this drilling by the pro because she had been watching me during a summer league as well as during practice, and felt it would suit my style more to have a little more length, but still a strong reaction.

I was throwing my Delta in comparison, and it didn't have the grit to grab through the major amount of oil. The Dominion, however, did.

I was playing 20-15-10, and cramming the pocket. I threw it wide and pulled it in to see what would happen. Outside it didn't have enough to come back, but inside it held the line and was a massive strike. I turned a few heads because it was hitting so hard.

Going to be trying it on my normal house tonight, which this thing should be a monster on. I'll do another post when I get back tonight, and next practice session I'll be doing a video.

In love with Seismic already.

Wait until you try it on a house shot with that wall on the outside, that wide shot will come screaming back. If you like your Dominion you may want to look into a Solaris Blackout, it is every bit as good as the Dominion but with more versatility, a true benchmark type ball. I'm glad you liked the Dominion as I was a poster that recommended it on your other thread.

That's actually what I'm thinking about next. I'm either going to get another dominion with a different drilling, or get a Blackout. When I have the money, of course, but tonight should prove interesting with the Dominion I have right now.

Wanna thank everyone for the input on what ball to go with.

Yep!  Loving all three of mine.  Just went 717 last night with my first, and trusty Blackout!  The Dominion is a heck of a piece also.  I haven't thrown mine in factory condition, 2 of my Dominions are polished and one I resurfaced to a true 4000abralon and not the 500/4000 cut.  Since the Dominion came out that's all I have thrown, last night was the first time since beginning of December that I threw something other than the Dominion in league.  Tomorrow it's just gonna be the Dominion and the Blackout in the bag....hmmmm, which one will get the play...

Glad your loving yours so far!  Many more excellent pieces by Seismic that are every bit as good as those two.  And more releases this year that will add to the already great product line.

So, after last night, I believe I have found the ball that has fit me the best since the original Black Widow.

It's been a long time since I could actually release the ball and actually know what's going to happen with it. Most of today's stuff I have to be careful with, because it's likely to shoot off if it checks up, or do nothing if it hits a slick. Yes, I throw mostly Hammer, and pearls at that.

That being said, on the THS I normally bowl on, I kept the Dominion in play for 3 games. This is something I haven't been able to do in a very, very long time. When mine "checks up," it just rolls a little sooner, and hits flatter. Ten pin gets left, convert, slip a board left, strike.

I started out 25-15-5, blowing the pocket out. Left a 9 pin, 4 pin, and a 7 pin after 3 in a row, got 2 boards deeper, and back to par. The only thing that stopped me from a decent set last night was missing the moves and footwork in the third game.

The one thing that I can say I have a problem with, while it's an amazing thing, is the amount of pins it throws around. It took a few things that went high and were going to be simple leaves, and threw pins to make some very harsh splits. This happened in the third game, so going high was my fault, but the power this thing packs threw a little too much.

I did have quite a few people asking me what I was throwing, and got the center's proprietor to watching. He fully admitted it was a great matchup for me, because I've been going through far too much skid/flip in his eyes. My Delta was even rolling, but it has more backend than the Dominion, making it unusable after 1 game at the house I bowl at.

I'll be likely going all Seismic from here, depending on how I match up with other pieces.

Going to be ordering the Blackout soon as a ball-down for the Dominion, as soon as I get all of my bills in a row. So, on that note, should I get the Blackout drilled the same as my Dominion for a similar shape, or stronger, or weaker?

And Gunny, should I wait to look at the Raging Bull line for the new pieces, or maybe go ahead and get one? I'm honestly looking at the Stampede, as it looks like it gives good length with a strong roll, much like my Dominion is giving me, but more of the same shape.

Tripcee Blackout will not disappoint you, it is Meduim oil machine! The most reliable and versatile piece of gear i have ever had in my bag. I have had mine since it came out has saved my butt numerous times. When lanes get all stupid late in blocks Blackout is their to make them look easy.

Blackout will move later on the lane than the dominion and be a bit more angular off the spot not alot more a little more. Imo if you want a good step down from Dominion drill it a little weaker, when the Dominion is to much you should be able to go to the Blackout and not change much

I have my Dominion pin down cg out at OOB and my Blackout pin up cg out at 500/2000 no polish and it is a 5 and 2 move right (right handed) from my Dominion. With this surface on the Blackout it brings the shape nearly the same as the Dominion to give me a nice consistent look.

Working on a video for the Dominion at the moment, or at least a friend is. Going to try to get more various angles for later, once I have a good tripod or something.

Blackout should be in Monday or Tuesday, and I'll give it the same treatment. Man, I'm so psyched about this new equipment. The way I'm matching up already is insane. Eager to see what Seismic has for the new equipment this year.

The Stampede is another great piece, nice length and strong motion on the back.  Takes cover changes very well.  I've had great success with mine in factory on the sports shots, and at 2000 with polish for the ths.  It's at the same surface as my Dominion(2000 w/polish), and is a good 4 and 2 move left of it.

The Stampede is a great tournament piece as it can handle good amounts of oil, so in my opinion it's a great piece to add to that arsenal.  It wouldn't do anyone any harm to add it to their lineup.  I believe every ball is for a specific condition, and use them accordingly.  If I choose to use them in a variety of conditions, than surface, surface, surface is a must.  And so far each piece in Seismic's lineup can give any bowler a great look on all conditions.  You haven't been disappointed on the pieces so far, and the Stampede or future pieces surely wont disappoint;-)

The Blackout is one of my favorite pieces.  With the layout I have on mine, it's one heck of a control piece!   I would drill it a bit weaker, maybe not a long pin to pap, but more of a control layout.  It all would depend on your specs.  Either way, you wont regret buying the Blackout.  It's a good piece to build an arsenal around.

Maybe a 3 inch pin-pap, to keep it a bit more stable? That'll be one helluva odd looking drilling for me, but it'd be a short pin-pap.
