300/814 with Crux Pearl
« on: February 25, 2015, 08:07:31 AM »
Back at it again.  Been throwing the Rocket so much that I thought the CP might be feeling left out.  I have this issue every year where I start getting too tight and trying to place everything too perfectly and after a couple rough games before the 300 with my Rocket last Thursday, then a mediocre set in city for team on Sunday, I reset the system and got back to throwing it confidently again.  The Crux Pearl allowed me to play a part of the lane I'd never been able to at this house before.  This house is really dry outside and really wet in the track, so getting something to turn over strongly in the oil or be continuous off the dry and/or blend the wet/dry line is a real trick here.  I kept it tight the whole night, something like 17-11, and it kept revving up and finishing strong.  Had a decent amount of area too, I tugged it in a few times and let it go wide a few times, and it still found the pocket.

Like the Crux, this ball is going to be usable for more people on more conditions than they might expect.  For as much as they both hook, they get great length, and are controllable and continuous.  Both are real house shot killers, and the main difference is in shape, as I think the Pearl only hooks a few boards less than the original.  I'm going to try to go for the hat trick tomorrow haha.

Very nice set. Noticed you are on Storm advisory staff. Wondering if you have thrown the HC Skid & if you could compare it to the CP? Wasn't sure if you were allowed to throw both Storm & Roto-Grip or not. Thanks!

Excellent set.  I have both the Crux and Crux Pearl and agree on your assessment of both.  I have been trying to start with the Crux but it has been a little too strong for the shot in the house I bowl, so the last two weeks after the first game switched to the Crux Pearl for the second game and shot 252 and 267.  Love the length of the CP and how it consistently reads the mid-lane, especially for a pearl.

Advisory staff can only throw the brand they sign with, so no, I'm not able to throw Roto.  However, from what I've seen, the Skid is cleaner and more angular.  The CP still is very clean through the fronts, and the backend move is clean, but it's not as sharp or angular a move, still a very rolly ball.
