Alpha Crux - Was it?
« on: October 17, 2017, 04:52:14 PM »
Was it THAT good? I see that it was used a lot! I missed the boat on it and wonder if I should try and seek one out.

I've seen it used a lot in torunaments with some oil. I dont think it got as much hype as the Sure Lock, I'd say similar oil capabilities but the Alpha is smoother

Deleted my first message because wasn't adding much but captain obvious info but did notice the Crux seemed to rate higher on sports patterns than the Sure Lock.

I agree with this - my Alpha was smoother than my Sure Lock.

Yeah, I think lots of people like the Alpha Crux. It also being a high-end Storm ball with nice colors helped a ton. I wouldn't go out of my way to find one though. A good ball, nothing extremely special (not that many are these days). Stick with the easier to find/cheaper retired options.

Out of curiousity, what fits the bill for this in your opinion?

The usual suspects. Hy-Road, Hy-Road Pearl, Venom Shock, maybe the !Q Tour Solid if it carries well for you. The Black Ops could be in there too and I'm probably forgetting some off the top of my head. All those that have far outlasted the usual turnover cycle for bowling balls.

Personally I still don't go out of my way to get one of those. To me trying different balls is a large part of the fun of buying new ones.

For me, i feel like the Inception Redux and Tyrant might be closest. Mako, Verdict, Pitbull Growl might have a little more backend. No Rules Exist maybe too smooth

I just have to say... A lot of thr pros still throw the Alpha. Also see them quite a bit in leagues. They just seem to read the lane so well and be smooth downlane (without pooping). Just seems to be the right shape on the fresh. Still puzzled why it didn't last longer.

I've got 2, 1 pin up and 1 pin down.  Use them in Regionals and league, takes very well to surface adjustment.   First two balls when choosing an arsenal.

Just my 2 cents

What do you like to make as your next step down off an Alpha Crux?

Because the average guy, many of whom who are on this site, are excited for balls that arent even out yet and speculating on the next, next ball. The companies have to feed these beasts.

And with this point, many can't figure out why  the game has been in decline....  ???
