Ball between Phaze 2 and IQ Tour 30
« on: October 23, 2017, 10:27:31 PM »
Looking for something to combat carrydown on a THS/Sport Patterns. Typically start THS Leagues with an IQ Tour 30 but it tends to have an over-under reaction after the first game. Also leaves a lot of weak 10 pins.

Phaze 2 seems to work well but revs early and leaves a lot of 10 pins. Great ball for longer patterns.

Looking for any recommendations on which Storm/Roto Grip ball would be a good fit to bridge the gap. I prefer more of a power arc ball motion.

Right Handed
Speed: 16.5-18 MPH
RPM: 375-400

Any and all recommendations are appreciated.

How strong did you drill your marvel pearl and phaze II thx

I've drilled from the original run of Marvel Pearl's a 5x4x2.5, a 5x4x4.5, and a 5x5x3 that I plugged and redrilled to 4.5x5.5x2.75. Of those, I still have the 5x4x2.5, as I shot 800 with it one night in league.

My current Marvel Pearl from this recent run is drilled 4x5.5x3. I went with a slower transition virtual MB as well as a stronger pin placement with more flare. All of the Marvel pearls, for me, have been controllable on the backend. My current Marvel Pearl has the best motion down lane when I want to cover a few boards on fresh with clean backends, but by no means, is it an angular, hook set, shape. My Dare Devil is 4.5x5x2.5, that I go to when the Marvel is too early or too much overall hook, then ball down to my !Q30 drilled 5x5.5x3, to open up breakdown.

I have two Phaze II's, the first drilled is a 2.5 pin for short high volume patterns. The second one drilled that I use frequently is 4x5x1 with a P1 hole that I drilled for the fresh on these long, lighter to medium total volume oil patterns of 45 feet and longer that we were seeing in PBA regionals. The 2.5 pin ball is a roll monster, which is what was intended and works really well on fresh Cheetah. the 1" VAL Phaze II has a more defined hook point with continuation, and is easier through the front of the lane for me even with the same surface prep as the 2.5 pin no hole Phaze II.
