Intense Review
« on: November 16, 2017, 12:30:52 PM »
I am a medium rev player (tweener) with slower speed (14mph-15mph) and I league bowl on 2 different house shots.  I have used most of the Storm pearl reactive equipment including the Phaze, Crux Pearl, Snap Lock, Code Black (all are great except for the Phaze which is very condition specific).

The layout for the both the intense and the code black is very similar to the Storm drilling guide for 4x4x2 which is a great combination of length and back end reaction and my favorite layout for typical house shots (THS).  I have only used this equipment on fresh house shots (no sport patterns).

The intense easily glides through the front and mid lane with a strong angular motion coming off the back end of the oil pattern.  It is the reaction just about everyone likes to see on a house shot.  The ball revs up in the mid lane and maintains energy for the back end.  The ball hits very hard and the pin carry is impressive.  When the lanes start to break down, you can chase the oil line left and not worry about the ball recovering or a decrease in pin carry.  I was very impressed with the Code Black (a great ball for sure) and am even more impressed with the Intense.  The intense is a great ball for the typical house shot league bowler and it might be one of the best balls storm has produced to date.

Compared to the code back, the intense for me is a bit longer through the mid lane and more angular on the back end.  The intense also seems to be less squirty in the oil compared to the code black, likely due to the R3S coverstock vs R2S for the Code Black.  The OOB reaction works fine for me and I do not plan on making any surface changes.  The colors of the ball are also a great tool for seeing how the ball is rolling and reacting down lane.

Bottom line... if you are looking for a ball with length and back end this is another winner from Storm.
