Marvel Pearl Video?
on: June 26, 2017, 02:08:53 PM
Does anyone want to see a new MP video?  I ordered two, not entirely sure I want to drill one, almost want to just stash them both.  With it not being that old, there are still good videos on youtube of it, and since it was a limited run, if you didn't preorder one, they're likely going to be hard to get ahold of, so I wasn't sure if a new video was even necessary.  I've already got two tournament bags full of stuff that I want to throw all at the same time and can't, really don't need that decision made harder.  I know, cry me a river right?  At the same time, I've never thrown one, kinda want to see what all the fuss is about . .

Nah, they're actually really similar lol.  Don't forget the CB has a monster core in it, and R2X Pearl isn't a ton stronger than R2S Pearl, same base formula, just an additive adjustment.  Rad4 core at .058 diff and .020 MB is gonna be early and strong no matter what cover you put on it.  Code Black is actually what I'm going to compare it to in the video because of how similar they act . .

The Marvel Pearl and the Code Black with the same layout will be completely different reactions. The MP will bel a lot earlier and stronger in the mid lane. Not sure it will be a good replacement IMO.

Luke - what difference do you note when you go with the 70x4 or 4.5x35 instead of your usual 65x5.25.40?

Earlier and smoother.  Stronger pin makes the ball flare more which increases traction early, and that strong of a pin puts the core in a very smooth position at the breakpoint.  I do that for heavy volumes up front and/or snappy backends or when I want to tame a reaction down.  If you watch my Code Black video, by the time the ball hits friction, it's virtually pin axis, which makes it get to the spot and then kind of sit there.  Just trying to manipulate shape really.  My usual layout produces flare lines that are pretty close to each other most of the way down the lane, so by the time the ball gets to the backend, the core is in a stronger higher flaring position, which produces a more pronounced move on the backend.

Got mine today. Went 65x5"x40 and damn that b*tch is strong. It can definitely shape up quick and hard on the backend. I've typically gone with a 4-4.5" pin and a high drill angle like 80-85 but you inspired me to try what I went with and I like it haha.
