New Storm Setup
« on: December 28, 2017, 12:10:47 PM »
Hello All,

I started a topic about how I threw my best series with my buddies ball throwing the storm IQ Tour. I have ordered this ball for myself, if I was to fill out 4 more balls what should I buy? I bowl a lot of tournaments and leagues in different houses, so trying to avoid balls that are only good for one condition. I have a bunch of Brunswick and DV8 equipment but everything is too aggressive for me and/or just rolls way too soon for me.

More info about your game, personal stats, what whet lane conditions are needed before a accurate assessment of equipment is suggested...

I have never had my Rev calculated but if I had to guess mid 300s, I throw between 14-15mph, I like to play straighter but can play in. I have very little tilt, I track very close to the thumb whole, I think when I had my PAP measured it was 6 1/4. I dont remember the exact number but I was told its almost equal to a full roller, but not actually a full roller.

5 ball Storm/Roto arsenal based on the information given:

Dare Devil Trick - solid symmetrical that will roll early and be a light-duty oiler
No Rules Pearl - strong polished aysm that will snap but is not totally skid flip
IQ Tour Solid - medium benchmark solid symmetrical
Hustle INK - polished solid sym that will push down lane a little further than the IQ
Pitch Black - to control flying back ends and to use on short sport patterns

For tournaments I generally steer clear of skid flip equipment.  Sounds like you want to too, given your newfound love of the IQ Tour Solid.  It also sounds like you want to steer clear of balls that hook at your feet (like the Sure Lock).

Pretty darn good lineup that Lefty listed for you there. A couple "in lieu of" options, following a similar top to bottom listing as his but will look more THS driven -

Phaze II - Solid Symmetric, strong ball that can handle oil but easy length
Code Black - Asymmetric Pearl, easy length w/ strong backend move, takes really well to surface changes.
IQ Tour Solid -  Lefty covered this one
Hy-Road Pearl - Symmetric Pearl, Cleanest ball I've ever thrown down the lane w/ a strong reliable backend
Hustle INK - Lefty covered this one

Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend
IQ Tour
