2017 update: Marvel Pearl Replacement
« on: February 20, 2017, 09:35:25 AM »
I know this topic came up in the past, but just wanted to ask this question since a lot of new equipment has come out since. Has anyone found a good replacement to the Marvel Pearl? A versatile strong pearl that has been the centerpiece of my arsenal.

Just to clarify, I'm not looking to buy a NIB Marvel Pearl for $200+ nor interested in buying a used one. Although I agree with "whatever works, keep going with it", I'm looking to keep an open mind and moving on to newer equipment and not become overly attached to one particular ball/model. Can be any company and can even be an asymmetric core. Thanks.

I'd honestly say Truth Pearl. Looks much closer than an Inception Pearl.

2nd batch phaze
Truth pearl
Timeles

They all would fill the same spot in my bag. Not oily enough for a solid, but you still need midlane and a touch of pop off the spot.

Let's not make this overly complicated.  Lol cmon yall

In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

I like the look of the Truth Pearl, just haven't seen enough of it to really recommend it as a replacement for something that was so popular in the Marvel Pearl.

It's definitely on my short list to experiment with this summer

I remember the Marvel Pearl not being sideways off the spot, and the Inception Pearl is sideways. If you're going to go for a symmetrical pearl that isn't stupid off the friction, I would venture to say Truth Pearl.

I know this is a Storm forum but honestly, from our testing, the Ebonite Gamebreaker 2 Phenom Pearl is super close to the Marvel Pearl in my opinion.  I love that ball and keep it in my personal arsenal.  It has a smooth, ultra predictable booming move.  Absolutely love the shape.
I had a Marvel Pearl in my arsenal back in the day as well.  For me as with pretty much almost all Storm balls, I prefer them when the covers die down a bit and it took a while for me to truly enjoy the characteristics of the Marvel Pearl whereas the Phenom Pearl is that right out of the box.

Thanks for all the helpful input, everyone. I actually just got a code black yesterday (ordered before I posted this thread) so can't wait to try it out, per Luke's suggestion.

Also, I do like the idea of the trying out EBI again with the GB2 phenom pearl. Colors even remind me a bit of the MP and just realized the MP got a shoutout in your vid, Tamer.

Never tried 900 global but Andrew Cain recently made the inception pearl look good on the Shark.

:-)  Good Luck with the Code Black!
