Phase II and Code Black
« on: December 26, 2017, 02:53:44 PM »
Phase II - solid symmetric - Code Black pearl asymmetric.
On a fresh THS, which will cover more boards? I know they will start to hook at different places, and have different shapes.

Depends, if there is enough oil the Phaze II, if not, the Code Black.

Maybe time to give golf a try.

Your question has a lot of variables. If you don't face heavy enough oil to get the Phaze II down the lane, it's going to hook much earlier, and the Code Black will save enough enenergy to make it look like the Code Black hooks more. Put out a 42 foot heavy oil pattern, and the Phaze II will run circles around the Code Black.

So, in terms of oil handling capabilities, the Phaze II is more ball than the Code Black. In terms of backend reaction, the Code Black will win.

Lol uncertainty on which one covers more boards warrants a change to golf?

As Doom explained, it can vary depending on what you're bowling on. I can cover 25 boards on a lighter house shots with a Hy-Road Pearl. Put it on a heavier sport shot and it's going to go straight.

That question has so many variables that I literally can't think of a similar example to explain just how many variables it has, not to mention that theoretics rarely enter into actual practice.  Not all fresh THS shots are alike.  Sometimes the Phaze 2 will cover more boards, sometimes the Code Black will, there's not an absolute answer, there's not even really an answer period because the answer depends 100% on the variables 100% of the time.  I'm not trying to be an ass, but saying the answers weren't much help and that you should take up golf when you asked quite possibly the most subjective and conditional question achievable in the sport is a little . . perturbing.

Sounds like golf is the answer.

Since you brought up golf, comparing a Code Black to a Phase 2 is like comparing a pitching wedge to a 5 iron.  They would both have their place in most people's arsenal

Thanks all. This has helped to determine my decision to retire at the end of the year. Solidly trying to get advice, then getting berated is not how I anticipated this to be. Maybe bowlers are one of the reasons bowling is losing popularity.

Been bowling for 30+ years and have become frustrated with many things, have had lessons, practiced and decided to throw other equipment. Maybe its me, maybe its the game, but there will be one less member at the end of this session.
