Storm warranty
« on: March 24, 2017, 11:15:50 PM »
So my Storm Code Black just cracked on the bridge, I was doing my research on ball warranty and the way it was drilled seemed almost perfect but there is only about a 3/8" between the finger hole and the edge of the pin, therefor voiding the warranty. Would the pro shop owner be to blame for the ball now being void of warranty?

You should check with your PSO and see if can get it replaced through his dist or Storm. I have had very good results with Storm replacing equipment when the warranty was voided for what ever reason. Worst case call Storm directly, no harm in that.

I would say always start with your pso. See how things go then contact Storm directly if necessary.

With just a bridge crack, should just be able to plug and move on.  Often bridges crack because of too much glue used in gluing the inserts in or because the holes weren't angled away from each other enough and met at the bottom.  Cracked bridge is a minimal issue and easily fixed.  I don't think a cracked bridge should be a warranty issue in the first place, vast VAST majority of the time it's a workmanship issue and not a manufacturing issue.

I agree. Just go to your pro shop

The pro shop voided the manufacturer warranty for you with that layout and should repair it for you.
Having said that, sometimes these stay that way and never get worse.  I would alert the pro shop about the issue and then wait to see if it starts getting worse.

Best bet is to get your PSO to plug and fix it.  If warranty is already voided you arent out anything.  You can get in a catch 22 situation if the drilling is proper though.  Storm won't replace a ball if the crack is not impacting your release.  They will replace it if the crack progresses but if you opt to fix it as a preventitive you void the warranty should anything else go wrong.  I have that situation right Noe on a Phase II.  I will probably have my ball driller fix it at some point before I need it in a tourney.

Excellent point here.  Sometimes bridges crack and then nothing happens.  The rest of the ball won't crack from a cracked bridge, at worst, the crack starts chipping out.  May be no reason to do anything yet but keep an eye on the progress.
