Natural Drilling
« on: November 16, 2012, 05:49:16 AM »
Hello,

I have a question, I'm redrilling my natural, as I wanna make it hook a little more with a little more length, have it laid out 3 3/8x 3 3/8 x 2 buffer, down to 1000 grit polish, i thought it will do, but I'm now questioning about it about it may roll too early even with the polish on broken down/burnt lanes

i bowl around 29km/h(18mph), not sure of exact rpm but I have a high rev shot

Just want some thoughts.

Thanks guys...

Im not sure on drilling, but mines drilled at a 4x4x2 with a balance hole. it would role out to early oob, so i put 4000grit polish on it, had strong continuation for me at that. Im about 17mph between 400-450revs

How was it drilled before you plugged it?  What did it do then?

Not to sure of exact drilling as I just told my ball driller to layout the ball what he thinks was best, was pin on top on ring , with my pap 4 1/4... Maybe would of made it around 5 1/2 to 6 pin to pap, it was an alright reaction. Seriously had to work the ball to get it to hook though..

things that create hook...first, hook is any deviation from a straight line and can occur at 5' or 50'...urethane covers tend to 'hook' throughout the lane, not down lane...and the more flare you create, the earlier the bowling ball will react and surface dictates length

True, so I would be better go probably go with something not as strong, like 4x4 drilling and maybe 2000 grit polish

4 X 4 still might too strong....at least 4 1/2-5" and definitely smooth it up if you want more length...just remember urethane responds slower to friction than resin, i.e. it won't make a sharp move down lane

Before I changed the drill, I would change the surface, all the way up to 4000 if I had to. I do not think you see that big of a difference between 33/8 and 4 on a Natural.

I don't have a choice, it was plugged over a year ago, i quit bowling for a little bit back in 2010, was plugged due to the buyer wanted it plugged but didn't end up paying, so I just put it under my bed and just forgot about it..
