Happy 4th birthday to the Hy-Road
« on: November 19, 2012, 04:17:53 PM »
It's not often that any of us ever see a ball that stays in a product lineup for 4 years.  In fact, most balls usually stay in there less than 2 years.  Some even shorter than that.  But, when you have something that makes it 4 years and it's still going strong, you know you have something special.

Here is Storm's press release that celebrates the Hy-Road's 4th birthday.

I'll tell you one thing.  Hands down it is a great benchmark ball in my arsenal and it's bailed me out plenty of times.

In my opinion, second only to the black V2 as the all time best.

As much as I love the Nomad Dagger, Defiant, and Rogue Cell, the Hy-Road is in another league.    It's easily one of the best I've ever thrown.

I think so as well. It was the best Storm ball I've ever owned! I think Storm should bring it back as a limited reissue like Ebonite did with the Gamebreaker. Any takers here?

How can bowling balls really improve? All new tech is for heavy oil

Not true. The Hyroad was one of the best balls that was ever made because it was breed from 2 great balls before it, the T-Road Solid and Pearl.  The 2 were so great for their individual conditions but had so much separation between the 2 that the Hyroad was made to bridge the gap. What consumers got was an incredible backending ball that could read oil like the solid but stand up off the friction like the pearl.
Aside from that, not all tech is made for heavy oil. Some of the best balls were made from the medium/dry because of usability. My personally opinion, the Crossroad is close to the same league as the Hyroad. Very similar read with a smoother backend but stronger in oil. The Cyclone from Ebonite, another really good ball with backend that is less than 100 bucks. The Nexxxus, Tropical Heat Hybrid, Karma Solid, Bull Whip S.E., Cobra S.E.are all great pieces that arent for heavy oil.
