Track Cyborg
« on: April 09, 2017, 04:29:04 PM »
Hello all,
I just joined and this is my first post.

I am coming back to bowling after a thirty year absence. Things seem to have changed just a bit. Anyway, I've joined a league and am now bowling 3-4 times a week. Even with rusty mechanics I am averaging 170 and looking to improve.

My current ball is a Columbia Impulse. 15lb, 4 1/2 x 4 x 2, pap 5 7/16 right and 1 5/16 up, and pin up about 1" over my ring finger. My ball speed is about 14 mph and my revs are around 225. I have no idea of tilt other than I am a high track. This ball is drilled for controllable arc with a decent backend.

I am thinking of adding a Track Cyborg to give me a little more angle on the back-end when the Impulse is just not getting there. I prefer to bowl a down and in style targeting board 11 and a break-point around 8-9.

My question is this: Will the Cyborg basically just duplicate the Impulse? My plan is to drill it to Storms Layout #2, Length with Angular Back End.

Ok experts, tell me what I'm missing.

One more thing. My league bowls on a 41' Montreal pattern. Other than that it's THS on various local lanes.

The Cyborg and Impulse are similar in overall strength, it could be an answer. If your Impulse is out of box finish then the Cyborg could start up a little earlier.

Is the Impulse not getting there because of the volume of oil? If there is a little too much oil for the Impulse and you like it, I'd look at the Impulse Solid, Track Mako, or Hammer Gauntlet

And if you do need more angle on the backend I would consider the Cyborg Pearl, Kinetic Emerald, Phobia, Mission Unknown, and Gamebreaker 2 Phenom Pearl. Those are all still fairly strong but should give a bit different look than the Impulse.

Thank you all. I'll take a look at the Pearls.
