Specs: 18 mph, 540 rev rate, 5 1/2 x 0 PAP, 30 degrees axis rotation

SS Ogre: pin out 3 1/2 inches, 3 ounces top weight

Layout:  4 1/2 stacked (cg underneath the pin 1 1/2 inches from center of grip and on the midline), weight hole on the midline 4 inches from center of grip.

I drilled it this way simply because my Green Gargoyle is drilled identical and wanted to get a true comparison of the 2 balls.  On your THS, the Green Gargoyle is very clean through the front with a pretty defined flip on the backend about 42-45 feet down the lane.

The SS Ogre when I first threw it out of the box was left in box finish (1500 grit polished).  At one of the centers I practice at (AMF Center with a high friction synthetic surfaces) with their version of the THS, I could not control it.  The ball had a flippy type reaction though it looked a few feet sooner than the Green Gargoyle.  A friend of mine who is on Ebonite Staff watched a few shots and agreed that a change needed to be made as the reaction was way too uncontrollable on the THS.  I put the ball on the spinner and took her up to 4000 abralon with Ebonite's Factory Finish on top of that.  The ball was much cleaner down the lane which made it more playable but still had too much pop on the backend to make it too similar to the Green Gargoyle and that was playing 22 at the arrows playing 5-7 at the breakpoint.  Back to the pro shop I went where I started at a fresh piece of 2000 to knock the polish off and then back to 4000.  Now compared to the Green Gargoyle, it is a few feet sooner but not having the polish on it made it more of a hard arcing motion and much more controllable also allowing me to get in the oil a little more without too much worry of the ball being squirty.  

Since the Green Gargoyle is my favorite ball, the SS Ogre was a must have for me.  For those that have the Greenie and looking for something the replace it down the road, get the SS Ogre.  I rate this ball a perfect 10 as it fits perfectly to what I wanted, takes to cover changes easily, and can be used on anything except alot of carrydown.

Just got this ball drilled last weekend. Label leverage, tried it in league on sunday. Hooks a lot more than I thought it would in box finish. I may have found a new favorite ball, at least I'll have a choice, old fav Ogre pearl. Great ball on house shot.

When you need easy length and a strong finish this is an excellent choice. Went to the Ogre SS when lanes burned up too much to continue with Immortal Solid. Started at straight up 10 and got the reaction I needed. Stayed on this line the rest of the night with only a minor hand position adjustment. I had messenger pins flying all over the place, but they were wasted. The pin deck had already been cleared. This ball is very easy to love, it is a long and strong ball with a beautiful cover.

New Visionary Test Member.

Ball: 3" pin and 3oz. top weight

Drill: Pin placed 1:30 above and to the right of the ring finger, CG below the fingers and 1" right of the
center line.

Finish: Box 1500(Polished)

I use this ball on medium-light fresh house shot.  My line is from 30 across 4th arrow out to past the 10 board and let it come back to the pocket.  The explosion created by this ball throws plenty on messingers.  The Ogre SS allows me to get down the lane to my break point with minimal effort.  I throw between 16.5 and 18.5 mph with plenty of revolutions.  This ball is pretty forgiving on wooden lanes without carrydown.  So far I have thrown 706, 725, 690, 684, 737 and 648 using this ball 90% of the nite.  I am going to get a second ball and drill it to go longer when the lanes go dry.

Liked this ball drilled label leverage but it was not very forgiving. I had my pro shop guy put a weight hole in it to cut down on the snappy backend. I practiced once with it and I think it will be much better for my down and in game.

My specs:
Left handed, ball speed around 16 MPH, rev rate around 300 RPM, axis rotation of around 60 degrees, and axis tilt around 30 degrees.

After trying several Visionary balls, I’m still waiting to find one that doesn’t do exactly what they say it will.  The Ogre SS is an absolute joy to use.  Some balls claim to have “easy length”.  This one goes beyond that.  I would describe its length as “effortless”.   But in spite of that, it is not at all “squirty”.  There is no hint of “hydroplaning”.  It just seems to ignore any friction until the breakpoint.  Dried (or even fried) heads and even midlane is not an issue.  I haven’t found anything yet that would cause this ball to labor in getting down the lane.  But if you think that a ball that gets this kind of length would be lacking at the breakpoint, you don’t know the SS.  I tend to classify back end reactions as “arc”, “snap” and “flip”.  This one is truly a “snap”.  Basically a hard “hockey stick” type move.  It really matches up well to the length.  I’ve seen some “go long” balls that are kind of weak on the back end and leave soft corner pins.  Others go long but flip so hard on the back end that there are lots of “designer spares” to deal with.  This one is right in the middle.  Enough length to give an outstanding entry angle and a move hard enough to shred the rack and fire messengers across the lane, but not so hard as to leave weird things with gaps in the middle if you don’t roll it perfectly.  Another way of looking at it is that it has enough back end to turn the corner if the lanes are so dry that you have to give the pocket away, but not so much as to make it unplayable from the outside.  This is a ball that makes me wish I had more hand.  I don’t think you could have too much hand for this ball.  One higher rev player I know of was using this ball to average 240+, until the “other” ball company that sponsors him found out he was using it and made him put it away.  All in all, this is an outstanding ball that will just have you looking for an excuse to use it.  Great job, Visionary!

  This was my first ball by visionary.....  I was looking for a ball that i could play straighter with on a house shot....  I wasnt too sure what to expect with this ball because i havent seen any visionary in my area at all so i drilled it 3 x3 stacked with x hole on my pap.....

 what i got with the ogre ss is the ultimate fresh house shot ball.....  i get effortless length with this ball and a very hard arc off the dry that just continues thru the pins.....  The only drawback with the ogre ss  is on longer patterns and carrydown...  this is when its very easy to push the ball thru the breakpoint because of the easy length the ball allready creates  so that is where you'd put the ogre ss back in the bag and get something else....

all in all  the ogre ss is an excellent choice for the fresh house shot and shorter oil patterns........  on a scale of 1-10 with ten beeing the best  i give this ball a solid 8......

Likes: Gets extremely good length and would be smooth in the backend but it needs dry lanes.

Dislikes: Ball would skid to far on pretty much all conditions unless the lanes were just scorched

This ball is great for any bowler looking for a dry lanes ball. Higher rev players will like the length and backend, while softer speed player will benefit from the extreme length.

Comparing to what’s in my bag:

Ogre Pearl - 3 3/4 X 3 3/4 – Box Finish
Ogre SS seems to push down the lane about 2 feet longer and has the same smooth reaction but about one arrow less on the drier lane conditions.

Angular One – 3 3/8 X 4 – 4000 Abralon with Ebonite Polish
Ogre SS seems to push 2 ½ to 3 feet farther down the lane, but hooked about 2 arrows less in the backend. Angular One has a much sharper break point, and overall is just more explosive in the backend.

Creating length and pronounced backend movement
the SS Ogre is truly a skid/snap ball.
This ball utilizes the new DESTROYER cover stock with a 1500 grit Polished

This highly reactive shell allows this ball to sail through the heads and store up energy

keeping the pins low right to left instead of straight up.
which doesn't produce consistent carry or impact .
The dense flip cap helps create a strong movement at it's breakpoint,

This ball with a good lay-out can be used on Longer Oil patterns, as well,
As well as house conditions with fresh back ends.
The SS Ogre will go longer and break sharper than the Purple/Black Ogre Pearl.

my specs:

pap = 4 1/2 ^1/2
speed = 16 - 17mph
revs = approx 275

drill: stacked leverage pin down to increase track flare and traction in oil.

lane conditions: medium-heavy and medium-lite

I bought this ball as part of the test staff platinum program. I really only wanted 3 balls but the package comes with 4 and they dont have a package for 3 balls so I threw in this ball thinking I would hate it as i was looking for more traction not skid/flip.

so what can I say about this ball? WOW!!! this is one of the most impressive balls ive ever seen. Anyone can make a skid/flip ball but this one is special. it feels like plastic the way it glides thru the heads and even skids in the mid lane and then as soon as it exits the oil pattern look out! it should come with turn signals as it jumps left big time!

the thing that really makes me like this ball is it isnt afraid of oil either. as long as there is friction in the backends it will still hook. the destroyer coverstock is really something special.

is give this ball a 5/5 for when the patterns fresh. but if it skids put it away and pull out the ogre pearl or something that reads the mids and carrydown better

great ball.super length and supper flip,I'm amazed on the recovery.get in deep and chuck it to the dirt.i love this ball late in the day. it allows me to move inside of most others and it still has the hit to carry well

I needed a ball that would go longer with me having to "push" it down the lane through the break point. I use it at a house with med-light oil pattern. This ball gets down the lane and makes a left turn. I drilled it for a skid/flip reaction and it is excellent. Sometimes too sharp. I am a "tweener" and don't usually cut through the pins and leave 9 pins, but with this ball I had 4 the first night I used it. A move left and the ball still recovered strongly. Highly recommended.

Ball rolls like a marble in a bath tub through the front part of the lane.
Reads the mid lane just enough and then flips at the break like some one kicked it, yet it still controlled.  
This ball is perfect on most house shots and short patterns.
Handles carry down well enough.
Definitely recommended.

For all intents and purposes this was supposed to be a short oil ball that goes long and snaps hard. That's exactly what I got. The ball looks amazing in my bag and even better going down the lane.

Ball Reaction- For me I seem to get about 48 ft then bam left turn and great continuation through the deck.

What I like about it is it's length, hit, and carry.

What I don't like is the fact that it's number two in the line up. This ball isn't for a fresh med shot. Once you burn a line, then let the striking begin.
I'm so impressed by the SS that I have the Solid and Pearl on the way.

As far as rating go I'd give it 10/10
