Storm Hyroad - Ogre Pearl
« on: July 23, 2012, 08:18:15 PM »
I've just been given an undrilled Ogre Pearl, and wondered how it would compare with the Storm Hyroad, as mine is near death and I am wondering if it would be a decent replacement - quite excited to try my first Visionary orb!

You can go here and make a comparison of numbers and covers.

They have a new feature to compare equipment.

I have not had a HyRoad so I can't make a valid comparison.

The Ogre Pearl is a great ball is best suited for medium oil! The Hy-Road is a med/hvy condition ball. I've had both and personally I liked the Ogre Pearl the best! The Ogre Pearl has great length with a strong break point! It may not be a perfect replacement, but it'll be fairly close and a ball you'll really love to roll!! Enjoy your new ball

On the same oil pattern the Ogre Purple Pearl gives you a consistent read with a good backend, similar to a particle pearl. The Storm HyRoad will get down the lane well and give you a strong but predictable move on the backend. The Ogre Pearl will tend to skate a bit on oil carry down. Not so much with the HyRoad, which is predictable comparing a pearl to a hybrid coverstock. Both are great balls.
