50,000 more reasons to buy 900 Global
« on: June 13, 2009, 06:08:47 AM »
I just heard from a local 900g rep that the last $25g bounty was such a success that Phil is doing the same for the Bounty Hunter but it's going to have a $50,000 bounty on it. It sure beats that stupid gas promotion that Big B has.

Thanks newguy!

I wish they'd do this for weaker balls.  I don't bowl on enough oil for balls like this, maybe once a year.

It's all layout!

...and coverstock prep.  I bet you could tame the Bounty Hunter down to the level of the Lunatic without too much difficulty if you're that interested in getting a piece of the pie.

Considering the bounty for the Bounty ended up being $106 plus change, I'd expect the bounty for the Bounty Hunter will end up being about $200.  Honestly doesn't seem worth the effort if you don't see enough oil to justify buying an aggressive ball...the winnings probably won't even cover the cost of the ball.  If you're in the market for a new ball, I'd just get the Lunatic and save yourself the difference in cost.  You'll get a great ball that is appropriate for the conditions and you won't have any pressure to throw a 300!

this is really smart marketing, they are overcharging you for the price of a new ball with old technology, reusing a core and changing the cover number by 4 points or so, with the promise to pay you if you are lucky enough to bowl a 300 game. so basically, they are making the profit of a mid price ball instead of a high end ball, genious.

I am confused with what point you are trying to get across. I don't see any old technology being used here.

Don't all ball companies do that?

For the life of me, I don't understand why you would take a heavy oil ball, adjust the cover and layout to make it fit conditions its not meant for..

Why not just buy a ball made for that condition?

Because then you can't win a share of the $50,000 bounty.

I'm pretty sure that if you actually read my post you would have recognized that I did recommend to the orginal poster that he buy a ball made for the conditions he usually sees...

For what it's worth, try starting a PBA Exp. League. You'll get all the oil you'll ever want or need. LOL! It's the perfect excuse for buying new stuff.

When you've moved up, moved back, adjusted left and right, cupped, flattened out, have thrown everyting in your arsenal, and the pins still don't cooperate, just say, "Aw to HELL with it!", and throw the ball!

I actually have bowled in two PBA leagues.  Two different houses.  As far as hook is concerned, one of the centers allowed me too hook anything but plastic 10 boards at least.  On every pattern.  The only time I needed a strong ball was once on the Shark in the other center, and I used my Rival.  I bet the Bounty Hunter is much stronger.  I really haven't bowled on what could be considered heavy oil, except for probably one or two times not including that time on the Shark.

Just because the ball doesnt hook when you pitch it at the gutter doesnt mean there is a lot of oil.
