900 Global Eternity Pi Review
« on: September 22, 2023, 06:22:55 PM »
The Eternity Pi is the newest solid ball in their lineup. It features the new Reserve Blend 901 Solid Reactive cover which is supposed to be strong but cleaner than that on the Reality and I am in agreement with that. The cover is stronger but for me it was able to get through the fronts with plenty of down lane shape. I compared the Pi to the Reality and the Eternity. Compared to the Reality, I have both ball at similar strength on the lanes but shaping differently. The Reality was earlier and rounder while the Pi was cleaner/longer but more forward shaping. Compared to the Eternity it is a ball down for sure but shaped the same for me. When the Eternity Pi was starting to read the lanes too early then the Eternity would be a good option to switch to.

The new 900 series release from 900 Global is called the Eternity Pi. It teams up the powerhouse Epoch core with a gritty 2k solid cover called Reserve Blend 901. The resulting combination is a high performance ball with a muscular motion for high volume lanes.

I first tested the Eternity Pi on the long high volume house pattern at my home center. The lanes had been playing particularly tight in recent weeks and this ball came along at the perfect time. It's strong cover really catches the mid-lane. In keeping with the great reaction of the original eternity it also gives you great hitting power.

The Eternity Pi is a perfect first ball out of the bag and will over-power the wettest conditions. It was a little earlier for me compared to my Reality, but that may be due more to my jump from 14lb equipment to 15's. I has also seemed to continue a little better than the eternity. When you get both of those things it's going to translate into more overall hook.  The Eternity Pi has settled nicely into my bag as the strongest ball I own.

I see this ball being very popular anywhere you have to battle heavy oil conditions and will be particularly popular with speed dominant players and anyone who needs a little more help from the ball to make up for a lack of revs.

900 Global Eternity PI
Cover: Reserve Blend 901â„¢ Solid Reactive
Core: Epochâ„¢ (Asymmetrical)
Color: Burgundy/White/Black

Review:
The long awaited cover variation of the Epoch core is here! We thought the Eternity was a huge sleeper and this is just as good, if not better. We love strong bowling ball covers and this is definitely one of them. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). You will see a lot of similarities of this ball to the DNA and Reality. We feel this ball is just a touch earlier and smoother than both out of box. As with all three of those options, they all love oil and if you like to play a lot of lane this is another great piece to add to your strong bag. If you have a DNA or Reality and don’t want an overlapping pieces then it is important to keep in mind this ball is very responsive to cover changes. We took a 4000 abralon to this ball to give us a slight more variation from the DNA. Shifting us slightly right gives us a bit better look with both bowling balls coming into play without overlap.

900 Global Eternity PI
Layout: 4.5 x 5 x 2 Storm Pin Buffer Layout
Rev Rate: 325 rpm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation
Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume)
Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center
Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane

The 900 Global Eternity PI utilizes the Special Batch 901 solid coverstock and the Epoch weight block. I think 900 Global’s team is onto something with these special hand-crafted batches of coverstock.  The PI shows some strength and looks good (shelf appeal a 10 rating) doing it also.  I feel the PI falls between the Magic Gem and Reality.  The PI is cleaner and longer than the Magic Gem but sooner than the Reality.  The PI doesn’t have the backend movement of the Reality. The PI has a little edge over the Magic Gem with being more versatile.  I carry both the PI and the Reality with me to most tournaments, but would take the Magic Gem in place of the PI if the oil pattern was a heavy oil pattern.
