Train reviews
« on: March 29, 2012, 03:37:23 PM »
How are people liking the Train? I have liked most of the Global equipment except for a few. I have had good luck the last 2 weeks and had a 300 with an Eagle 2 weeks ago  and a 300 last night with my S75. I have been debating on getting a Defiant for floods but might consider a Train since I like Global stuff. I had a Bank but it didn't do much for me and had very little backend.  The  Break is still my all time favorite and even though mine has 200 or so games on it I continue to use it all the time.

I have a Train drilled with a small stacked layout with the pin just below my pinky.

This ball/layout  gives me very good control on heavier patterns.

It is almost as strong as my Bankroll with an earlier motion than my Bankroll.

Mine doesn't hockeystick off of the patterns.

I am still working out the kinks on when to throw it sometimes.

Almost all things are better when they come from Texas.Except maybe the USBC. LOL

IMHO, I have both balls you are considering and I wouldn't consider either a "heavy oil" ball. They are pretty similar in total hook with the Train being a touch smoother. Personally I prefer the reaction from the Train slightly more, but the Trains cover has been high maintenance for me. However, the s75 for me handles more oil and is more hook than either one...

Well, if you want to stay in the 900 Global/AMF family, an often overlooked ball that can handle some oil is The Grip. It's not real hard on the pocketbook, either. I don't know that I would consider a HEAVY oiler, but it can handle the higher side of medium quite well.

+1 for this post! grip is a great ball that is simply over looked in today's flood of bowling balls.

Thanks for the replies. I might just look into the Grip.

Sounds good, but as I mentioned, I don't know that it can handle HEAVY oil. A better choice for absolute floods would be the OMG. But if you're looking at a heavier medium shot with some recovery areas, then The Grip would be a great choice. I know that 900 Global/AMF have been doing demos in various parts of the country. You may want to contact them to see if anything is scheduled in your area so that you can test for yourself. Good luck!

Yes. The Train can handle. Heavy oil if you have to  give some more surface
It's one of most versatile balls on the market. With great carry. Myself. I have 2.
One with an  N pad for soup , one with a T pad. For fresh house shot,  the core is
way stronger then the Src core in the banks and even though the train has the
Same cover as the bank roll. It's quite a bit stronger ,

Swaff,

I have heard great things about the Bank Roll, that much stronger is really saying something!
