Moxie Review
« on: October 17, 2014, 08:57:23 AM »
Surface:  OOB for SPORT and tried 1500 Polished and 4000 for THS
Layout:  Pin below ring finger with cg kicked about 1/2 right, no weight hole needed.

41 ft Sport medium pattern:  This ball with the OOB surface rolled pretty good on the first day playing a inside shot.  Rolled up great in the midlane with a excellent punch on the backend.  Second day the insides got burned up a lot quicker, so decided to try the ball from around the 5 board and handled the oil on the outside great.  Played that line from the outside the rest of the day and ball picked up good from the midlane and continued through the pocket with a great carry percentage.

THS:  First thing our THS is dry from 1-7 and uses Defy oil pretty heavy in the middle of lane with decent carrydown.  I have tried 1500 Polished and 4000 grit with the Moxie and just have not found a consistent read with the ball.  At 4000 grit i could play really deep or play the whole lane and get to the pocket, but carry percentage was not very good.  At 1500 grit polished I could play a little tighter line from around 15-7 and worked decent for the first games and then when the carrydown happened it made the reaction very over/under.  I will see what a weaker layout on a new Moxie will do for THS shots, but as of right now looking to be a good tournament ball, but not THS type of ball at all.

Thank you Chris this is exactly the type of reviews people need tell us what it does well and be honest about what it doesn't do well.

Well done Chris! After reading the two reviews you have posted today, I will be buying a new ball. It's nice to have someone give an honest assessment for a change.

No problem at all.  I feel it is better to be honest in the reviews than to lie and then have people buy something and bash the product because it did not work for what they originally bought it for.  If you all have any questions about the line up with 900 global please message me and I will let you know what I have seen.

Update on the Moxie:  I needed to do something for THS as I like the way the ball rolls.  I added a P3 weight hole and hit the surface with 3000 grit.  Did the surface change after seeing that surface work for Gizmo on his Sinister.  With the weight hole and surface change the ball reacts very good off of the dry outside boards, does not over react off the dry.  If you have a Moxie and either the carry percentage is low on THS or the ball is not reacting like you wanted, look at either placement of the weight hole or mess around with surface.  This ball takes surface changes very good.
