Are 900G coverstocks durable?
« on: August 04, 2009, 10:34:18 AM »
I was thinking of trying a 900G ball - I floated the idea to a couple of friends - both are regional-level ability bowlers. Both of them advised me that their opinion was that 900G coverstocks did not hold up as good as some other brands. I have not ever really heard of any comments regarding the durability of 900G. Any opinions based on experience?

Quite the contrary.  900Global is the spiritual successor to Dynothane and s well known for their longevity. Their Soaker covers are among  the most durable around.

I only have experience with 1 900 global ball. Picked up an S-75 used a month back. This thing still hooks like when you first throw a new ball fresh out of the box. I am amazed as I have thrown all manufacturers except the one and done upstart companies and have never seen a ball retain the fresh hook out of the box motion like this one.

I bowl on oily synthetics and for weeks haven't been able to use it beyond the 1st game due to it still being so aggressive. I almost wish it would show some slowing down so I could throw it more

And this was a used model! I am definitely going to buy more 900 global in the future and would not be concerned with their longevity.

They are very durable for me. My Break Pearl needed quite a bit of maintenance but an easy oil extraction always worked. The Break s75 lasted probably about 100 games before it started to lose some reaction for me. I haven't been able to get it back to where it was. It still hooks just not as much. My Link is my go to ball on everything but oil probably has 100 games and is still as strong as the day I bought it. They hold up well compared to the other companies I have used so I would say they are wrong.

My Break Pearl is still snappy and has a little more than 100 games on it. Only 1 oil extraction so far. That was more of a precaution than the ball losing a whole lot reaction wise.

Thanks for the input. I'm not sure why I got the negative reaction. I really want to try a BPP but hearing those comments scared me off a little- I'm not able to buy balls on a whim so I try to make an informed decision on something that I will use for a while. I feel better now. Thanks again.

I have over 250 game on my Break solid without a oil extraction or resurface and average 228 with it last year.  I also have around 100 games on my Break S75.  I have never heard any problems with the coverstocks.

Yes, for a company that uses filler they are the most durable out there. Lanemasters and Visionary are the only ones that surpass them.

I have a Code with over 100 games that is still an awesome ball and I have honestly not seen a decline in performance. A kinetic Solaris, whihc uses the Break Pearl cover with 60 games and it is still going very strong.

This is the best company out right now as far as I am concerned
