Title: Boost? Underrated?
Post by: 2handedrook12 on March 22, 2016, 08:31:03 PM
How good is the Boost series? Plan on getting one soon. Not entirely sure which color yet but I know I'm drilling it to skid flip since I don't have anything in my bag for thr stsnd left throw right type of shots.

Yes, Boost is highly underrated. Pearl is very clean with a pretty strong backend. Highly recommend a Boost Pearl for transition. Another option is the AMF Excite. Same ball as the retired 900 Global Hook. Comparatively, the Excite will have a little more midlane read than a Boost. Definitely won't be disappointed for what you are looking to do with a Boost. Other options for standing left throwing right and opening the lane up would be a Dream Big Pearl or Respect Pearl. If you can get your hands on one, a Dream will also fill that role as well.

My Boost Pearl is super clean and then left turn. Not going to be a first ball out of the bag, but if you need a ball to scoot then flip later in a block, I like it.

Hy-Road Pearl is approximately 50x4_1/2_60 with a weight hole  6 3/4 from the pin down the VAL. It is super smooth and it reads pretty early. Still requires friction to shape properly, but it doesn't kick by any means.

The Green/Purple one is very aggressive for that price point. I've seen a couple guys in Vegas lighting up the gutter with it on some of our heavier house patterns.

My son bowls with a blue one and the hook is too much for him.  That ball can go!

Completely agree.  This ball has been under rated since it came out

The plan is to get an Xcite and a Boost to put my favorite layouts on them and use for house shots. My college arsenal loaded enough but I could use some pieces for a scholarship tour next year. The Green and Black hook seemed to be around the strength of a Wipe Out which is one of my all time favorite balls.

Yeah, the Xcites are the bomb. Need one of those in my life.

Are they as strong as the Cyclones and Vibes? (Balls that are low in price but can hook more than expected)
