« on: March 10, 2009, 04:22:57 AM »
Looking for a big hooking ball to use mostly on THS...tourney every once in a while, torn between the three...any suggestions? I've got the maniac right now and love it...looking to build a 900 arsenal. lmk what you think.

Get all 3 and add the Break Pearl to the list.
But if just for the time being.  Get the Point.

If you're looking for a similar move on a ball that can handle more oil, I'd recommend the Bounty.

If you want a little more skid but still plenty of turn in the oil, get the S-75.

Can't speak to the Break Point as I haven't thrown one yet.

Matt, I'm no expert but based on what I've read, ..if you love your Maniac, and that look, ...I'd lean towards the Bounty

I picked up a Break Point this weekend and I can say this, the ball is a beast.  I always thought it would be even with its S73 coverstock, but the core in that ball and the RG diff really rev up nicely and it's got some serious backend move and turn.

I'm able to play way inside on a THS with this ball and it doesn't give up any movement and actually reads the midlane amazingly well.

From what I've seen you're probably looking for either the s75 or the Break Point.  The Point is most likely going to give you a better look on more oil with a stronger move on the back end.

In the end though, you really can't go wrong with any of them!  I'm going to try and post a video soon.  I took video of my heavy/long oil ball (NTense LevRG) and compared the look on the lane with the Break Point.  You'd be amazed at the results!

For me the Bounty is the smoothest, the Break Point has the most backend and the S75 is in the middle. Overall like others have said can not go wrong with any of them, and for even more oil the Mega is stronger than any of these listed.

To be honest if you are looking for THS ball I would go with the Break Solid.  I have the Bounty and I have the S75 and if you get these for THS you better make sure there is some oil.  I have not really been able to use my Bounty or S75 because I just do not see enough oil.  The Break Solid is a very versitle ball.  I have used mine on heavier oil, medium and medium heavy.  I have shot multiple angles with it and carry well with just about any angle.  The Bounty and the S75 are both great balls but not if you do not see enough oil.

The Bounty would be the smoothest and easiest to read on a typical house shot.

Matt,

I have both the Maniac and the S75....

The S75 is a great step up from that.  I have been drilling up a lot of Global 900 lately and getting a good feel for their reactions.

Bounty is very smooth but boy do you need oil.  If you have big hand...it is silly strong..

The Break Point I am not sold on yet but haven't seen too many thrown.  Another strong ball and needs big oil.

The S75 is my THS, my Scorpion, Shark, Chameleon and my go to ball.  Sweet roll....strong and controlled.  Hooks in oil and doesn't over bounce the dry and hits the best in my opinion of the the Break Series. It has taken my Cell Pearl out of my hands and I never thought that would happen.

Hope this helps!

Matt what is your rev rate, that makes a big difference on the ball selection by itself, cranker...tweener... lots of factors to take in when selecting a ball.

For me the S75 is a beast. Huge in the back part of the lane it made my Bounty seem not worth having. Now the break point for me is really nice on the medium ths.

I'd like to know where you are finding enough oil for these monsters? Currently my Sahara is too much ball. It was even too much ball out at Sams Town this last weekend

I'd say at best i'm on the heavy-handed side of a tweener. I'd by no means say cranker, but then again, i've never really had anything measured as far as revs go.
