Title: Break Pearl Help.......................
Post by: Monster Stitch on May 23, 2008, 06:55:16 AM
Do you guys think it's better to drill this ball strong?

I layed mine out at home tonight and have it Pin 4-1/2 from pap and the MB 4-1/4 by PAP. Let me know what you think.

I would say yes, lay it out out strong..

I have one drilled 4x4, which puts the pin to the right of the ring and the mass bias down and to the right of my thumb hole.

This is a very good ball for medium oil conditions.

which is what the ball is meant for. The Break is meant for more oil and the new Break S75 with the soaker additives is even sooner.

I've map out the ball a few times already going back and forth from a 5 inch pin to pap to a 4-1/2 pin to pap. I have two friends who have break pearls and they both love it. One guy is Ramtart who is here on BR, he has his pin 6 inches from pap (pin over bridge) and my other friend has his 5 inches pin to pap with the pin under bridge. I am wondering if i drill this strong with a pin 4-1/2 from pap and the MB 4 TO 4-1/2 from pap that it ain't going to burn out. I see that this ball clears the heads easily with no issues but very strong off the dry. Maybe i'll just give it a try. I can always punch a weaker layout on another one later.

I'm rev dominant and drilled mine with a 5" pin to PAP (pin under ring/hole down).  I underestimated the strength of the cover, so I see too much of a hook stop motion with this drill.  If I had it to do over again, I would probably go with a 5" pin above the ring without an extra hole and adjust the cover to smooth the reaction if needed.  Based on your profile, your layout looks pretty good.
