Break Pearl vs Lunatic
« on: October 14, 2009, 05:13:40 AM »
Has anyone thrown both balls and if so how did they react?

Would a good 3 ball Global arsenal be

1 Bounty Hunter
2 BP Pearl
3 Lunatic

How would you compare to

Storm
1 VG
2 Furious
3 Fast

The Break Point Pearl would not be too far off from the Lunatic as far as total hook goes goes in my opinion.  Just different looks.  Between those 3-ball arsenals, I think the Storm one would cover a bit more conditions particularly on the lower end of the oil spectrum.  The Lunatic is stronger than the Fast I think.

Unless you have very high ball speed with respect to your rev rate or you face very heavy oil as part of your house oil pattern, I would hesitate to consider the Bounty Hunter as the top member of your arsenal. It is so strong, it is really an arsenal ball for those occasional tournament that use very heavy oil.

I'd pick a ball more like the Breakpoint which is closer overall to the Virtual Gravity, as a more useful ball for medium-heavy oil.
Then got down to a Lunatic, then to a Hype Reactive.

In your Storm arsenal the Furious is probably too close to the VG. Maybe a Hy-Road, with some of the polish taken off. Or take the Furiois to maybe P4000 grit.

Well, I cannot say much about the 900G line-up, since I've never thrown a ball by them (but that is gonna change soon I hope, I'm gonna buy the BPP or maybe BH soon),  but I do throw the VG & the furious.

My VG is drilled 4*4 , furious label leverage, both oob surface, allthough the furious has +100 games on it and it's a bit shiny now (laneshine) and thereby reacting differently than new, I didn't bring it back to oob because I love the reaction I get from the furious atm.

Now the important stuff: my VG is about 6 boards stonger than the Furious & I can get much deeper with it, so I think with the line-up VG-Furious-Fast you can cover a good amounth off the spectrum, allthough I wouldn't put a too strong lay-out on the fast, or like charlest said: give the furious some surface because at 2000dull it's maybe a bit closer to the VG as you would like.

in your 900G, I think the space between BH & BPP is much more than 6 boards btw, and surely in the amount of oil they can handle,  also you have another type of benchmark ball in your comparision: Pearl with 900G vs Solid with Storm.
